Got the new shingles vaccine yesterday...ouch. My arm still hurts and I had a fever and pains all over. Feeling a bit better today. Hope it lasts.

That is how my arm feels after a flu shot. I never had the shingles vaccine.

Seeing several people suffer from shingles and having a severe case of chicken pox as a child, I asked for this vaccine several years ago when it became available. It was against age guidelines, but I talked my doctor into it.

I am supposed to get the new shingles shot and will try to get it on Monday when I go in for my labs. Thanks for the side effects warning, pixi!

Good luck on getting it, nborchardt. There are 6 month long waiting lists for it up here and the doctors, pharmacies, etc. aren't even taking names any longer. You'd think that with a vaccine this popular and needed, the pharma companies would ramp up production.

Just to let you know, Jazz--I had had shots about 5 years ago and the reports are they aren't effective so if you got yours a while ago you better check to see if you got the "right stuff."

Mamag--this shot hurts at least three times as much as any other shot I ever had. The pain is going away fast but it was really sore yesterday.
