Among my Easter decorations are a Balkan egg and a pastel "tye dyed" egg one of my grands made for me many years ago.

These were eggs from hens that lay that color. Getting some more Tuesday.

Getting some more hens or eggs? I've seen eggs like you're talking about. A friend of ours has several different varieties of chickens and the eggs are brown, bluish and greenish.

Hopefully, if anyone buys a bunny as an Easter gift for a child (or children), the child enjoys having the pet for some time. There's often news stories about rabbits that were pets being released into the wild (they're not that good about living in the wild - they don't have the experience of dealing with predators).

I'm amazed at how many stray bunnies our local animal services agency finds who were obviously pets at one time. Luckily we have a nearby rabbit rescue organization.

That's great that you have a local rabbit rescue. More places need to have animal rescue services - not just for cats and dogs.

Agreed. And even better would be the people putting more effort into caring for their pets...

I know the rabbits can be a problem but I'd much rather them than pythons!

There are too many people who get pets, especially exotic ones, and soon tire of them. Some places, like Florida, many of those animals just get released into the wild. They should try to find someplace to give or sell them to - zoo, pet stores, etc.

Manatee, you are so right! I've been on the committee of my local SPCA here in New Zealand for well over 30 years, and I drives me to despair the way people - well, some people - regard animals as disposable items. Animals are sentient, sensitive beings who share the planet with us. One way or another we make use of them whether they like it or not - we owe them at least respect and compassion!

"it drives me" not "I drives me"!!!! Sheesh!!!!!!

I didn't even notice that missing "t", jiggler! :)
I am stunned by what I see sometimes. Just astounded to tears sometimes. And I've only seen a small fraction of it. Thank you for your service for the SPCA.
