My grandfather used to grow award-winning, plate-size dahlias in Lubbock, Texas. They were beautiful! He had his picture in the paper almost every year. Wish I had inherited his green thumb!
Love dahlias...my husband made a gorgeous border filled with many varieties at our first home. He brought them when we moved but critters ate all the bulbs. Maybe we'll try again this spring.
I put down mothballs as we had lots of moles tunneling around new bushes I put in. The tunnels ended up in the lawn this winter so hopefully the mothballs did the job. They sure stink!
My Tulips, Periwinkles and Daffodils are blooming now! My Forsythias are gorgeous - but short-lived. Wish they would bloom longer.

I just got an email of pix from my bro in AZ. Lots of desert plants are blooming out there. It is so wonderful we can share seeing the happy things on the computer. It lifts the heart. Still very cold in upstate NY. Tops of bulb leaves are up a few inches but no flowers yet.
