Beautiful. Looks like my Elijah whom I had for 18 years. He was a wonderful cat who would jump up into my arms from the floor when I was standing up.

For those of us in the UK especially: - please be careful of all our pets, children and elderly relatives during the next week or so. I know that many children celebrate Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes Night) in an innocent manner, but there are some who will cause injury/harm to animals - either deliberately or accidentally. There are still some elderly people around for whom Fireworks can reawaken traumatic memories of wartime and things they would rather forget :-(.

Fireworks really aren't used much in the United States for Halloween, but, on Independence Day and New Year's, a lot of people set off fireworks or shooting guns. A lot of veterans have problems with hearing those bangs. I used to live near a veteran who would hide in his closet on both of those nights.

Yesterday was a day that some of our local kids call 'Mischief Night' - not sure of its origins - but it's like an 'unofficial excuse' to get away with things that are almost considered 'Anti-Social Behaviour', despite regular Police Patrols. My eldest granddaughter (age 17) had a hard-boiled egg in its shell thrown into her face from a passing car...............now THAT can't be 'kids' behaviour. Shops usually refuse to sell eggs, cooking fat and flour to children on Mischief Night. We also had Fireworks going off until around 11.30pm................and to think that these Fireworks will go on until at least 5th November (Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night) - 'big sigh'!

Hope other countries are having a more peaceful time than we are :-)!

I don't know if Detroit still does Devil's Night - I think it was October 30th - many abandoned houses would be set on fire. Unfortunately, there are a lot of abandoned houses in Detroit. I know a few years ago, someone could buy a house for about $1000 (640 British Pounds).
