Well I learned on this site that a skinny looking cow isn't skinny afterall.
Years ago when it was easy to get fresh raw milk we had a choice of milk from a Guernsey or a Jersey cow and I preferred the Jersey cows milk. Seemed richer and sweeter and had a slight yellow tint to it and so good and all that cream too, yum. We grew up on fresh raw milk as kids also and nothing compares to it. Wish I could find it again but now its so hard to find and the same with home grown eggs. Miss all those things!

I wonder if there some other cows. It looks like a pretty peaceful pasture.

My goodness that is a skinny looking cow amidst all the beauty in the Swiss alps.

The insurance assessor checked out my husband's car today and declared it a write off. He will only get market value and we need a good reliable car because of my health issues. Your prayers would be appreciated. His arm and shoulder were badly damaged in the accident and really needs surgery, but he doesn't want to have it.

Take care dear friends. God bless all of you. Hugs.

I don't like surgery, either, Aussie, but tell your husband this is one exception to the rule--the healing will be much faster. It's amazing what the surgeons can do today, and they are every much a part of God's servants as the nun praying for peace in the world. Amen.

Prayers that your husband reconsiders before the arm and should heal wrong and for you to find another car you can afford.

Aussie, why do our men have to be so stubborn? My dearly beloved put off going to the doctor until he landed in the emergency room, bleeding out internally. Grab your husband by the ear and drag him into surgery! It will get worse if not treated - and you can tell him we all said so!

Prayers and heart felt thoughts are being sent your way. Please get your husband into surgery as soon as you can. I can hardly walk or bend over because of an accident. I couldn't go to the hospital at that time and now I'm paying for it. Stay strong and may God shine on the both of you. Grammy Hugs.

It's not a skinny cow, it's a milk cow and most of them have large bone structure that sticks out like that. I think that one is a Jersey breed.

Aussie, I'm so sorry about the write off on the car. I've been there, done that. You'll be in my prayers. Tell your husband: My brother has had surgeries on almost every joint in his body. (His back is fused from top to bottom now.) He says that of all the surgeries he's had, the shoulder was the easiest!

Memory time: When I was 18, my best friend and I went on a month-long tour of Europe. (Our graduation presents! Lots cheaper in the early 70's! )) On the last night before we left for home, the group went for a fondue dinner at a beautiful chalet on top of a mountain in Switzerland. We were serenaded by men playing Alpen Horns (I think that's what they were called) and ladies yodeling. My favorite night of the whole trip!! After the amazing dinner, my friend and I went on a walk in the field behind the chalet to watch the sunset. There were wildflowers everywhere and a few cows munching on the grass. The moment was magical!! The smells of the wildflowers, the gentle sound of cow bells ringing, and the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen going down over the Alps. God's glory at it's finest!!

I wish I had had a video camera to record the moment to share with others and relive for myself!

God's blessings to you all!

We used to have milk cows with that awful skinny hollow and ribs showing. It was just their breed--very good milk cows. so don't worry too much about that cow.

Hopefully by now your husband has reconsidered and will choose the way to heal fastest. Will pray for a reliable car for you.

Thanks for all your advice. At the moment he is very fragile and I just want him to make those decisions for himself. Because he had five years medical training to become a chiropractor, which is five years more than I have had lol, then it is in his hands. And I have put it in God's hands, so know all will be well. Thanks again, and hugs all round.

This is such an educational site, I have learned that milk cows are like that (skinny). There is a country program here call "Landline" and all the milking cows I have seen on that look quite healthy, must be different in other countries. Thanks for your input. Hugs.

Ah, so hubby's a chiropractor. I prefer chiropractic treatments over surgeries any day, but there are times when surgery is necessary. Everything has its place. Because of both your persuasions, I can understand the reluctance to surgical procedures. Perhaps if the procedure were explained in detail, which hospitals sometimes do, your husband would better able to make a decision. (Just a thought.)

I think we're up against "physician heal thyself" vmarie. Until he gives it his best shot I don't think he'll budge. Anyway, doctors sometimes know the downside of procedures they won't tell us laywomen.

I am so sorry that you and you your husband are having so many problems. I pray for your strength, courage, and healing of your husband. I pray the surgeons will make your husband better and the healing hand of the Lord be upon them as they make your husband better. I also pray for ytou knowing that you will be comforted in the Father who holds you both so dear. God be with you all and we are here for you as well. Take care sweet lady and hugs to you both.

Aussie, we have lots of kinds of milk cows here, some are huge--the Holstines are big and black and white. Gurnseys and Jerseys are different shades of brown. We had a brindle one once, and she was mean. The different kinds have different temperaments, and give different butterfat contents (and different tasting) but they all have their own personalities just like dogs and cats do. Now that is probably more than you ever wanted to know about cows, from one raised on a small farm.

Coravee - thank you so much, never too old to learn I say and while I admire our farmers here in Australia, I think they are very badly treated. Not sure I would like to live on a farm, but it certainly looks nice and peaceful. All you wrote above I found very interesting. Thank you. Hugs.

PS - what country do you live in? Just curious.

USA, in North-east Indiana, about half way between Chicago and Detroit (3 hours to Chicago). I am in a county with 101 lakes, many are resort lakes. There is some industry and many small farms.

Where are you in Australia? My cousin lived several years in Australia, near Melbourne, and then in the outback. Her husband is a veterinarian. This was 40 years ago.

Hi Coravee, Just near Brisbane (about 60 ks) on Bribie Island, the only island off the coast of Queensland attached to the mainland by a bridge, so very accessible. I lived over your way for eight years, two in Canada and six in Louisiana and Texas. Hugs.

I think that would be lovely to be surrounded by the sea. (Except maybe during hurricane season.) We are in a tornado area, and an occasional blizzard. We had 14" snow last week, rain today is melting it, to prepare for our third "Arctic Blast" on Thursday. The Lord must like variety!

Your area has had so much worse weather than here in SW Mo. They tell us snow (or rain) is coming & it misses us. We need rain. We had Jersey's, mostly, on the farm, cream so thick it raised on the spoon. I always love seperating & making butter. but never acquired a taste for buttermilk, which made my Mom happy. She loved it.

My brother's wife's family were farmers in Nebraska.
There's no one left to farm now. Their father has died. Eldest son died. Mother in nursing home; sister and hubby in medicine (doctor and nurse) and my brother and his wife retired from working in Silicon Valley. They had planned all along to retire on the farm but I told them it was a mistake because no one would be there by then and I was right. So sad to see all the farms here in upstate NY turning into developments.

Thanks to all for the prayers and kind thoughts! I'm home now, get to sleep in my own bed tonight...yeah! Prayers still appreciated for my friend. She's struggling to climb thru the mountains of legal and financial paperwork, all while trying to grieve for her husband. It's a tough row to hoe, and she doesn't handle stress very well.

6;07 PM went to see my sister in the nursing home
she is very weak
I couldn't hardly hear her talk
it didn't help that the battery in my hearing aid died on the way there
she has a enlarged heart and her lungs are scared
she also has pneumonia
please put her and her family on your prayer list for Gods will to be done
she has been praying to go for a long time
I don't to give her up but I don't want her to suffer
pixipixil
Feb 5, 2015
Sure dbnc. It's hard to know what to pray for under those circumstances. I'll pray for an end to her suffering and God can decide how to do it.
