Good puzzle. I was still so hungry a few days ago after eating dinner and not eating enough that day. Well, I grabbed a package of fig newton bars in the pantry that I had been snacking on everyday. There was still some left in there and I ate them all up. I couldn't believe what I did, but I was completely full after that.
I love figs. Fresh ones are so hard to get and so expensive and the season is so short and they don't ship well. My grandmother had fig bushes and I remember me and my cousins eating them right off the bushes until Nanny caught us.
We had a fig tree in our backyard in Houston --- WWii era --- and my mother, being a Northerner wasn't interested in figs! But, one day when she was hanging up the laundry she decided to try a fig. She picked one and loved it! Thereafter when she went to pick a fig, the birds would dive-bomb her --- she was eating THEIR figs!
