This is called Stranded Knitting. It means that the yarn is twisted over 2 or 3 stitches on the back of the knitting. It's caught up by the yarn as it's knitted. It keeps the yarns tidy at the back. And yes, if multiple colours are involved, then it's Fair Isle knitting. That is something that I've done when I made a bag.
Wow- I'm impressed by knitters who can make these complicated items. I had a childhood friend whom we called "Taffy" but her real name was Stephanie...she was lovely.

I'm Sue. I usually use Taffy as I'm Welsh and that's what a Welsh person is called. Now living in Canada though.Taffy was taken though so I just changed the end.

Good morning all my fellow puzzlers. Aussie beautiful quotes this morning, hope you are well and safe my friend. We have been having severe weather warnings for the last 5 days and predicting to it to last for another 5-6 days. We have been having freezing fog - very dangerous, makes the roads very slick, not to mention not being able to see. Everything is white, almost looks like snow. Take care everyone.

Sunsetsky we usually get freezing fog at least once every winter. I live in the mountains in central Oregon, close to ski resorts, many lakes and some rivers of course. We get freezing rain also. Where are you located? Take care, be safe and hope to hear from you.

Aussie trying to stay indoors, been getting weather advisories everyday, this weather is supposed to be with us until the 15th. Gave Ed that big hug and he got such a laugh that you were sending him hugs too. My dear friend wish we were close enough so you could come spend Christmas with us. You have been on my mind more lately than usual, I guess it's because of the holidays. Went to the doctor Monday for an EMG test on my left leg and found out I have permenent nerve damage in my whole leg and foot, no wonder I can't feel them hahaha!!! Take care and be safe.
