Enjoyed these winter scarves. Bought a couple of the pre-looped ones this past year and find it really dresses up an outfit.

Beautiful patterns. However would never need one--unless I had to go up North in the winter.

To seaview..have just been reading your posts about your awful experience with your teethe, I do hope you've had it all sorted by now.I live in the west of Ireland and complain about the dental health service here and how bad its getting..but I have never heard of anything as bad as your experience. Is it normally so hard to get treatment? All the best, Frances

Hello everyone. Haven't been on here in a few days since I was having such awful pain from a tooth and got in to my appointment the morning of the 26th. Everything went from bad to worse.
It ended up that tooth turned into an abscess real fast & was swelling a little when I got in there so I knew it was abscessed before I went.
Gave me prescriptions, one an antibiotic and the other for pain. Took forever to get prescription as everyone was in the day before thanksgiving to get theirs filled also and I was swelled more by the time I got out of there.
Got home and took the antibiotic and fell asleep as I was exhausted and hardly any sleep for days because of pain. Woke up and looked in mirror and was shocked as my face was swelled so bad by then I couldn't believe it.
Hours later I was getting worried as it was getting worse and thought I might be allergic to medicine but a nurse said I would be having swelling in more than my face.
Well it got worse and was swelling in my neck also and couldn't open my mouth much either. My boyfriend stopped again on his way home from town and ended up taking me up to the hospital as the swelling just got worse.
They said it wasn't an allergic reaction it was the infection started spreading real fast and I needed something stronger and faster to work then pills so they gave me an antibiotic in an I.V. and an anti-inflammatory in a I.V. after that. I was feeling better after that.
They wrote out another prescription for an antibiotic and want me back up there for a 2nd I.V. We got back to my house at after 2:30 in the morning on the 27th and I spent all thanksgiving day sleeping. I couldn't eat anything anyhow just mostly drinking as my face was still swelled enough to affect my mouth too and couldn't get my mouth open enough to eat and was hard to drink too and needed a straw. I am going to make some chicken noodle soup today and see if I can eat that because I am getting hungry and instant breakfast and juice and water isn't enough. I have also lost my energy and want to just sleep.
Have you ever heard this? After all this and all the sleepless nights and an abscess that went out of control the earliest they can get me in to have it pulled is the end of February!!! By that time I will probably be back in the hospital. I wish the hospital would pull it as I am always having roadblocks with the dental.
Getting some pain back but not bad yet as the swelling goes down. When I was swelled bad it was taking the pain away almost like nerves were cut off by how bad I was swelled, I was unrecognizable.
So anyway not a good week at all and I am going back to bed as I am weak and tired.

Dental problems can be awful. I have heard that an abscessed tooth is what may have killed some of the Egyptian mummies - the lack of it being healed that is. Hope you are feeling better soon. The end of Feb is a long time to wait for a tooth to be pulled. I know the abscesses has to be healed first...but Feb is a little much

No., I have never heard of such a thing, but that doesn't mean a thing. My heart goes out to you. I will be praying for you and do what you can in the meantime to build up your immune system.

Poor seaview!! I have heard of a dentist coming to the ER to pull teeth in an emergency, but they don't like to pull them when they are abscessed. I don't understand why you can't get an emergency appointment with the dentist. Perhaps a low income clinic? Or just keep calling dentists until you find one who will pull it? Hope it gets better soon. Speaking of dental work, I will finally get dentures on the 10th. It has been a long process but finally ending!

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Try some oat meat or cream of wheat. That was about all I could eat. Maybe you should try a different dentist. The dentist shouldn't make you so long. My thought and prayers are with you. Blessed be and a great big Grammy Hug for you.

Seaview, what a terrible experience! I am so glad you got to a hospital. I hope the IV antibiotics kick it away and that it doesn't come back. February seems much too long to wait to pull the tooth - is a different dentist an option? I have heard of minor infections going crazy. I have heard of this, but my experience was easier. I had a tooth root infection that happened suddenly and sent me to the E.R. on a holiday weekend, where they did a CT scan to check my brain because they said if not treated it could have gone to the brain. Be sure to take all the antibiotics until they are gone so you kill every single one of those nasty little bacteria. Sending you thoughts of rest and healing.

Oh seaview, what an ordeal for you! I can identify somewhat, not as bad as your problem, but I got an infected root canal. I was referred to a specialist. I could barely drive to his office as my face was so swollen that I could barely see. He and his work and meds got me better soon. Hope all of that awful stuff is well behind you and you have been able to enjoy Christmas and the coming New Year's Eve! Keep us posted.

Fiestyolelady I went to a new dentist this week that would take my medical but even though it said they do extractions he will not do extractions and wanted me to go to go to an oral surgeon and nearest one is over 100 miles away. First time I have run into that as there is no reason for an oral surgeon. He said they can cut my gums and take out bone and extract them there. I thought it was nuts as neither of the 2 teeth are under the gums and need to have my gums cut and bone taken out to get them out. I could understand saying that if the teeth were like my wisdom teeth were which were mostly all under the gums and barely any of the teeth exposed but these are not like that and are totally out of the gums. He also said there is a very long waiting list to go to the big city to an oral surgeon.
I am going to see if they take my medical down on the res as people get in a lot faster down there and theres no reason to cut my gums and take bone out for these teeth so I hope they take the medical as this whole thing is ridiculous!

Good heavens, seaview, where are you?

It sounds like your extractions have some very bad complications.

Trynfindit I am in Washington state on the eastern side of the state.
This new dentist I just tried is the only one that said anything about cutting the gums and taking bone out and also about an oral surgeon.
The problem is when I go to the other place it makes me so nervous (and it doesn't help that you get a new dentist you never saw before every time) that between that and the bad teeth (2 of them) it drives my blood pressure up so they send me home but my BP is just a few points away from ok to do it.
I also told them if they just got them out my BP goes back to normal every time. Now because of new dentist everytime and some of the people there are enough to drive you away and its really the only place that has ever made me such a wreck because of how they are I get nowhere.
I cant even get in to my doc till the middle of June or later because of a big mess with them moving back to original clinic and with the records and everything and I wont go back and see some of the other quacks so I am hoping for a way to talk to my doc if nothing else.
Nurses and dental people have said they should of gave me valium before appointment but they don't do that there.
I am going to try the dentists on the res and see if they take my medical and also see if theres a way I can talk to my doc and tell him whats going on and hope for the best and maybe he can prescribe something to take before appointments to calm my nerves so I can get this done!

By "res" do you mean reservation? That's interesting; what tribe do you belong to? I looked up Indian reservations in Washington state and didn't realize there were so many, or so many different tribes.

I pray that you find good results with your dental issues.
seaview
Apr 28, 2015
Trynfindit yes I mean reservation, that's just what most people call it around here. I am not of the tribe but they do take people there that are not of the tribe. I am only a few miles from the reservation line and it is one of the tribes that have more land in this state, in fact it may have the biggest area of land of all the tribes in this state but I would have to look to make sure but I cant think of any tribe with that much land in this state. Oh and it is the Colville tribe on the eastern side of the state.

That's very interesting. Our states all have such varying histories; it's something that ought to be taught in schools.
