My Brothers sewing mach is 53 years old & still sews like new, but it doesn't sew over real heavy material. It is hard for me to sit very long in front of the machine.

As a sewing type it seems strange to look at the machine from this side rather than the business side. LoL

Guess my machine is a vintage one. Probably got it about 1965. I still use it occassionally.I used to make all my clothes becasue it was cheaper to make than to buy. Not any more.Material is expensive now.

That's a really old machine - looks like a Singer.

I've learned....
That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

Every blade of grass is a study; and to produce two, where there was but one, is both a profit and a pleasure. Abraham Lincoln

Take care and God bless. Hugs.

Both of the quotes are a little sad and happy. Hope you are staying cool. Have a blessed day. Take this Grammy Hug with you and keep it warm.

Hi goof, still having our heatwave and supposed to end on Sunday. Only relief is when I am in the car, or at the shopping centre, or at night. I have fans in almost every room in the house and a pergola in the back yard where there is usually a lovely sea breeze to cool me down. Hugs.

I love the first quote but Andy Rooney! My mother was a very bitter person and harbored all the hurts other had done to her. I try to make it a practice to forgive others and not let any bad feelings affect me. A person can't t hold onto hurtful feelings it poisons yourself and makes it harder to love others.

Well olamae, you seem to have overcome your mother's tendency as you impress me as being a very loving and kind person. There is a quote I saw once which goes something like this, you cannot drink poison and think it will kill your enemy. :) Hugs.

To dark to see the machine properly, I had a similar one which was a Singer Sewing Machine, this one in the puzzle could also be a Singer for it has the same golden design on it.

Thank you Barbaranne. God bless you also.
Yes this had a lot of very dark pieces with no hint as to their placement. I had a Singer like that many years ago. It only sewed straight stitches but it was simple enough for me to adjust on my own when it got out of kilter.

Barbaranne does look like a Singer, it's the only type of machine my Mother and I have ever owned. When I was very small and started to show an interest in sewing, for Christmas my Mother got for me a child size Singer with the gold design on it. Not electric, but worked by turning a knob on the wheel. Still have it. It sits on my dresser. I love to sew. Used to make shirts and other clothes for my son and hubby. Have a chair waiting for me to recover and alot of mending, just haven't been able to sit that long, hurts the back and leg. Good to see a post from you, haven't seen one for a while. Hope you are well and safe. Prayers to you also.

I also used a Singer treadle machine, and given a choice I would always have one, so easy to control.

Barbaranne my great aunt had treadle Singer. We used to visit her every summer and I would use her machine. You are right very easy to control--loved it, better than the Singer I have now. Be safe.

I almost wish I had this sewing machine right now, as my Necchi's timing is off. I wonder if this has the old treadle for the feet.

I find today's computer versions a bit overwhelming. Somehow I don't think the modern ones aren't as sturdy as the old machines. There are more parts that can go wrong with the new ones. The capabilities are fantastic, though.

Whir, whir, whir
Came the sound
As the tea kettle whistled

Up and down
Up and down
Went the needle

Making stitches so fair.
A birthday dress for my little one.

Love in each stitch.

I also love to sew and have a few. One very old one down stairs that doesn't work anymore but is a treadel. Have an old strech and sew that I still use, but doesnt work as well as it used to and I just bought a new one that has an automatic threader. Love it.
