Roger on the eyes! I need new glasses!

I stayed in a small town in northeastern Arizona one summer. I got my own P.O. box! It was fun. The boxes, if memory serves me, looked a lot like these! I guess it was an old post office!

I agree! Blast from the past, my parents had a post-office box. Taking something out was such and adventure as a kid!

In that same little town I stayed in an RV park that had its own "band". The band was comprised of very unlikely looking guys, mostly quite older men. They played as good as anything you will find anywhere. Sometimes they got a "gig" in a resort mountain town restaurant/lounge. Most of the RVers went up the mountain in our assorted cars and trucks to listen to them and dance. Too tool Cool! Big fun! We felt they were our own personal entertainers!

Our town post office has boxes that look like they were made by the same company. Ours were modernized by adding a key hole, but the dials still exist, unused, above the key slot. Unfortunately, fewer boxes are being rented, as the rental cost has risen so that free home delivery via mailbox is preferred by many residents in upstate NY.

Very tricky especially when one is 3/4 blind. I do enjoy the challenge. These letter boxes seem to have been used in the old days, then again each country has its own style of mailboxes. I prefer home mail delivery by a good old trusty postman. Mind you whenever I do any kind of jigsaw puzzles, I always look at the picture once and then piece them together. It gives me more satisfaction than having to repeatedly look at the photo. Take care everyone from the Land Down Under Tia xx

Your comment about good old trusty postmen means I must tell you what happened yesterday. I was shoveling my walk from the house to the mailbox which is curbside. The postal truck was headed in the opposite direction but stopped. The guy got out, took my shovel and finished the walk for me. I didn't get his name but called the main p.o. to let them know what a nice gesture that was. They figured out who had my route and said they'd make sure he got a nice lunch on the house. LOL

What a nice guy/postman to shovel for you. How I wish that I had help like that many years ago in Colorado Springs when we had 24 inches in less than 24 hours. All my neighbors (men) shoveled their driveways and sidewalks with a blower, while I used a shovel. It took me almost all day long. In between shoveling, I had a baby sleeping inside and I would stop and check on him constantly. Oh well, I got it done!!!

My husband LOVES to use his new snowblower! He gets up as early as he can so he can beat all the neighbors in the cul-de-sac to the shoveling! They all have a competition to see who can shovel the most, and then help each other. We're so fortunate to have friendly neighbors!

Minkacat, I grew up in Colorado Springs! I now live in Aurora. You're the first other person I've seen from Colorado! Welcome to the Crazy Puzzlers Club!

Nice to meet you, minkacat! I've been thru BV many times, on the way to skiing, church camp, rafting, and just driving through the mountains. It's beautiful up there. You're missing out on all the beautiful snow! We really haven't gotten that much down on the flatlands...

Wow! Before Dublin, Calif. was a city/town I grew up in Komandorski Village which were Navy homes...we had a little post office there with these mail boxes or very similar, anyways the postal clerk named Vera worked there for many years, well to make a long story short, she had two sons, Mike who I ended out going to grade school with, and an older son Danny, who happens to be the father of my eldest daughter! You know what they say...."its a small world"! One never knows, does one?

Thank you lillysmith2....today we had sunshine and blue sky. But we still have plenty of snow despite a little "melt-off" from the sun. We had 14 inches of snow in our backyard!!! Take care in Iowa and hope you have a great week! God bless you!
