Living my entire adult life less than a mile from an Ocean, this puzzle pulls at a deep longing to once again see the Tropical Seas. The Waters off Northern California display colors that my Atlantic Shallows never mustered; the smell of beached seaweed remains the same coast to coast.

Hey that is great! We be sober buddies. Funny, I don't even miss it:) Guess I have a nephew that is doing this too. I'm praying for him. I always remeber that last day and all I wanted to do was die. Guess God had other plans for me!

Congrats Cindy and Toadalove. My son just graduated from his addiction treatment program. He has a one year old daughter now and that has him motivated. It was a beautiful ceremony--so much love from those people. I hope people are sending lots of love your way today.

Toadalove and Cindy, what a wonderful achievement, my brother in law was alcohol free for 5yrs then had a heart attack was put on to meds which had the same effect on the liver and died a year later, so sad he was a lovely man.

You talk of graduations and tokens after addiction, what an incentive these must be to keep the hard work for the remainder of life. I do not think that this happens in the uk perhaps we should fight for it.

I am sure it is there in the uk. It is everywhere there is addiction. Keep looking. And it is not hard with the help of god!!

I just think it is wonderful what Toad and Cindy have accomplished..One important thing I learned being in AlaNon was in order to be sober be around sober people...even adults have peer pressure...many a slip has been caused by association with people who are not sober...My son has yet to learn that..He has an addictive personality and if one is good, ten is better and will not go into rehab..or even 12 step program..he is 42 years old and has liver and heart damage from pills and drinking...I expect the phone to ring any day...another important thing...they have to want to quit...I tried so hard to work with him and encourage him but the want to is not there so keep him in your prayers, it would be greatly appreciated..his name is Brett...If Mom talks to him and tries to help, she is nagging so I did back off...it has to come from him...It is cold here too in Alabama icy drizzle but nothing like all around the country...Spring cant be far behind...God Bless

Don't give up on your son, keep praying for him, and hopefully God will grant him the gift of sobriety. One day at a time.

Hi katygirl:
That is true--it must come from him. Like St. Monica with her son St Augustine--she would ask the priest what to do and he told her pray and let God. I will include Brett in the part of my prayers that are for the addicted among our associations. Maybe God will send a girl he falls in love with who recovered.
God bless.
