I suppose this is gorgeous fall color. Well--My big, beautiful GREEN tree with at least one million leaves is losing them ASAP. They turn BROWN immediately upon hitting the ground. What a mess. I am eager for bare branches and winter!

I love leaves on the trees. On the ground they make a perfect nest for every varmint in the neighborhood. It kills me to rake and bag them and have them carted instead of mulch but I tried that and regretted it when the voles took over the yard. We are still catching chipmunks, too. Over 30 at last count.

Trynfindit--I love them also but we only have a 0ne fifth acre lot and to support that many chipmunks will mean they eat the bulbs I plant all up, all the birdseed gets replanted amid my shrubs and they are also starting nesting in the garage. We use have a heart soand I bring them to a reserve to release them.

Sorry trynfindit. Theyt are busy all the time here unfortunately. Lately the neighbor's cats have taken to enjoying the chipmunks caught in the trap until we have a chance to transport them. This has been a chain reaction. First I got the bird feeder to lure the birds. It also, unfortunately, lured the chipmunks (and squirrels) which in turn has lured the cats. I am not going to even think about what might be next!

We have squirrels galore where I live. My cats think they are great play toys. I look out the window and see a squirrel run along the top of the wall and then a cat chasing it, and a little while later, the cat run along the wall the other way with the squirrel chasing him. They are fun to watch. The cats never catch the squirrels tho. They just play.

We have a bird feeder at a place in the NC mountains. It drew the birds, then the squirrels and, when we're not there, a bear. The same bear helped himself to some seed in a nearby man's feeder so the man attached an electric cable to shock the bear. When the bear got shocked it got really mad and tore up the whole thing - cable, feeder, feeder pole, etc.

Yowie. I guess when you're a bear you get what you want or else.

We used to have a tree just like this in our front yard. Unfortunately I died and had to go but I just loved that tree and I loved raking its leaves, so much fun...And burning them was so great after I let my granddaughter play in them of course.

Cindyj28, I just can't pass this up -- You say "I" died and had to go". I never believed in second lives, but this makes me want to re-think thinks. Forgive me, we all make mistakes in our posts but this one was too much to resist. God bless you
