I remember these in my hometown, but we called them streetcars.

I remember streetcars also. Now just busses with all kinds of advertizing on them.

I am sure you also remember trackless trolleys in the Cambridge area, Hyde Park (my original home town) and other local areas.

When I was a toddler in Brooklyn there were trolleycars like that.

I believe that's how the Brooklyn Dodgers (as they once were) got their name: Brooklynites were nicknamed "trolley dodgers". No trolleys in Los Angeles, though...

Pixiepixil and jdoty: There were trolly cars like that in Chicago when I was growing up. Left there when we were 10 years old. Glad I don't live there anymore. About 10 years ago, my sister and I got to see our old home where we grew up. Really hadn't changed much. Even had the kitchen sink that we used--our father was in kitchen equipment business. Still have a milk shake machine that must be 80 years old now. Still use it.

It must have delighted your kids to have a milkshake machine in the house.

My sister had 4 kids and she used it then. I had none but taught MANY in my school while teaching! I have it now and use it--very heavy machine! We also had cooking on Fridays when I taught kindergarten. We had a stove between 2 kindergarten rooms. Can't do any of that now. So sad!

Getting old is a process of shrinking abilities and possibilities. My husband and many of his brothers and sisters (there were 11 that survived) were teachers. I did some on and off but never felt comfortable with it. I did three years of part-time music teaching pre-K to 6th. We had a blast
but some of the parents ruined things as they became so invested in whether their kids got lead roles in the Christmas play (which I instituted) and other things and began making trouble. Other things happened the last year I taught that made me decide to quit. I was good at teaching just not so good at negotiating the politics.

I remember the Streetcars in Los Angeles when I was a kid. I never went on one. Too bad!

I just felt the desire to do this streetcar puzzle. It has been kept in top condition from the look of it. You rarely hear about Portugal in the news. Anybody been there?
Hope you are having a happy day.

Trams can take you straight up a mountain, as they do in Hong Kong.

My furbaby had a very hard day at the vet's today. She has a heart problem and all the tests were very traumatic for her. She and I are both exhausted from them.

God bless you all.

In the United States, they are of a by-gone era! However San Francisco still has some. Don't know of any other place.
