An exuberant red. Ginger is used as a tonic for healthy kidney function, especially as one ages.

I have only seen ginger root (raw and candy - it's too strong for me), ginger snaps, ginger beer, and ginger ale. My favorite ginger ale is Vernor's, largely because my dad grew up around Detroit, so it used to be a rare treat to get it. Fortunately now, it's often available in Kansas City (12-packs of cans or 2-liter bottles). The last time I was in Detroit, I kept buying 1 liter bottles in the hotel's gift store or at the CVS across the street in the Renaissance Center (I was there for a conference in February - not the best time of year to visit Detroit - it snowed almost nonstop the entire 5 days I was there), so I was only able to talk to one of my uncles. He had offered to drive in from one of the suburbs to take me to dinner, but I did not want to cause a man in his mid-70's and his wife with RA to try driving while it was so cold, windy, and usually snowing.

I have never heard of Vernor's ginger ale. The only ginger ale I have ever known where I am at is Canada dry, even as a kid it was Canada dry.
Met a woman in town that told me her and her husband moved here from back east and said a lot of brands are different here, and said that some brands are the same thing but with a different name. She mentioned brands I have never heard of.

Vernor's is quite a bit darker than Canada Dry and has a stronger ginger flavor. It was first made in 1866. I think Dr. Pepper/7 Up does the bottling now.

I think so too jiggler and love the looks of the flower.
I noticed your comment on ice cream soda made with ginger ale. Is that similar to a root beer float, except vanilla ice cream with ginger ale instead of the root beer?

Beautiful flower, love the looks of it and the color. Ginger makes me think of ginger ale and my Mom always gave us ginger ale when we were starting to get over flu enough to keep something down and it did always make us feel better. I did the same with my kids but I let it go flat and got the fizz out and much better on the stomach.

Had a cat named Ginger, also love ginger ale, and gingerbread cookies, also like ginger in some of the green teas. I agree it is a really beautiful flower can see where it would really work in a flower arrgement. Of course red is my favorite color.

Ginger ale makes me think of my grandmother. I used to get unlimited ginger ale and chicklets when I would visit her.

Here in Michigan, the Home of Vernor's Ginger Ale, we call that a Boston Cooler. Does anyone know where that name came from?

Some Asian markets have ginger ice cream--at least I saw that when I visited CA. Wonder if that would tickle your tastebuds as a true ginger ice cream soda.
