To the tune of Three Little Maids From School (Mikado)
Happy Thanksgiving One and All
by Pixipixil

Happy Thanksgiving one and all.
Such a good way to end the Fall.
Next comes the time to deck the hall.
This is the time for cheer.
If you have fam'ly to see you are blessed.
Happiness is multiplied if you invite a guest.
After the feasting it's time for a rest.
Put your feet up. Have a snooze and let the food digest.
But if you're lonely and feeling depressed.
Thank the good Lord anyway. Just try to do your best.
God says He's always near.
He can restore your cheer.

It was worth reading! I had a lovely Thanksgiving, thank you. We only had about 30 people this year, so we got to have longer conversations with more people! lol It's usually a 1 minute visit with each person. I hope your day was as good as you'd hoped, even better.

We spent the day resting to go on a trip to visit on Friday and Saturday. All in all we had a lovely holiday. Thanks for asking.
I know what you mean. One visit was a 90th birthday party and we only knew a fraction of the people who filled a K of C Hall.

Holidays are lonely. As I have mentioned, my family fell apart when my loving mama went to heaven a couple years ago. Last year I ate at the homeless shelter just to be around people. I'm estranged from my siblings and dad won't invite my child to his new wife's relatives for Thanksgiving after pleading with him. So, I overspent and ordered a big Thanksgiving dinner so it would be nice for her. I bought special candles, Thanksgiving decorations, etc. I was never much of a holiday person but my daughter is. I understand that everyone has a story to tell and mine is unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I need a positive change and a fresh start even at my age. Many blessings to everyone. A very kind person told me this years ago and I just have to remember it. "Don't let anyone steal your joy". Thank you for letting me share. I never ask for things but I am not afraid to ask for prayers. Please pray for me and my daughter. We are so very alone. Thank you and my God bless you.

Leia, you have my prayers. Of all the holidays to be alone I think Thanksgiving is the worst. I made our big meal yesterday and felt down all day. It's just my husband and I now so I know what you and your daughter are going through to some extent. It's good of you to try and list your daughter's spirits. I hope it helped. Cling to eachother and otherwise shake the dust from your feet. God will send people to you both..people who love and value you. Consign your husband and your family to the past.

Leia - My heart goes out to you and your daughter. If you knew my grandmother and she found out before Thanksgiving that you and/or anyone in your family was going to be alone - she would have invited you to Thanksgiving dinner - actually any holiday. She never liked to hear about people spending the holidays alone. She would have told you and your daughter "I'm so glad that you could join us". Even my parents would have invited you and your daughter. My mother told me that she had friiends coming because they were going to be alone! Happy Thanksgiving - I would have invited you and your daughter as well!

Leia - we are all important in the scheme of things to the One who matters the most. He loves you and sees your tears and has something special in mind for you. I understand the hurt as I have been estranged from my daughter for over five years, but I know God has her in the palm of His hand and one day it will all work out. Take care and God bless you. Hugs.

Leia7 I truly understand what you mean. You and your daughter are not alone. God is with you both! Where do you live? Did you hear about the job you interviewed for? You have a daughter with you, together you and her have each other. You also have the wonderful people on here being there and pulling for you. You are important. Happy Thanksgiving! Hang in there. Hugs and blessings to you!

You should volunteer at the homeless shelter, or animal shelter, it will stop you feeling sorry for yourself.

I am so very thankful for everyone's thoughts, words, and prayers. I always say "kindness is free". I am so overwhelmed in such a good way of the kindness I received from people to whom I am just a mere stranger. Each of you had something I took with me and will remember. I have genuinely prayed for each and every one of you. Thank you for touching my life and making my load a little lighter and brighter. I live in the Midwest, puzzlelover20. I want to move down south where the weather is warm and the hospitality is even warmer. Carolsapple, it sounds like you have a wonderful family with generous hearts. That was a very nice message that you wrote. Pixipixil, I like how you said to brush the dust off and move on. That makes so much sense. Globug, thank you for your prayers. That's what I asked for and need. Tryinfindit, thank you for reminding me that my daughter needs to see and feel joy from me and for us.KarenBuglet, so nice of you to say this can be my online family. That made me feel wanted. Aussiesapphire, your post always have so much thought and words of wisdom. I pray that you and your daughter can reconnect and rise above what has happened or gone wrong in the past. Love and well wishes from heart and soul :)

Puzzlelover20, thank you for saying I am important. What a wonderful thing to tell someone. Sisgp, volunteer work is good. I volunteer for Angels for Animals and sometimes at a homeless shelter. Thank you Mantee by reminding me to be strong and take control. Again, many blessings to each and every one of you :)

Leia the holidays can be a very lonely time of the year. I am praying for you and your daughter. The LORD knows your heart and your situation. He will never forsake you. He gave you a wonderful gift, your daughter! Spend time with her and make memories, together. Lift her spirits each day by giving her a big hug and telling her how much she means to you. Put a smile on your face and you will see it will lift your daughter's spirits, too. I know when she saw what you had done for Thanksgiving, she was happy. She knew you did it out of love for her. Take care of yourself and your daughter. Take your troubles to the LORD. He will comfort you. I will add you and your daughter to our church prayer list.

The holidays are lonely for me as well. My sister moved out of state. Now I heard that she lives here - does she invite me to Thanksgiving - Nope. I probably wouldn't have gone anyway. I don't appreciate her behavior - allows her children to be rude and disrespectful to me. Then tells me I'm outta line? She allowed her 14 yr. to grill me on why I'm getting married? Then this brat says oh I don't think he's right for you? Hubby was in the hospital and tells me I should let em die. Then my sister tells me my version is inaccurate? Oh please!

Thank you workined5522 so very much for your kind words and especially for adding my daughter and I to your church prayer list. Wow! I never had anyone do something like that for me. I am very grateful. Carolsapple I am sorry for your family troubles. My sister didn't invite us last year for Thanksgiving. Just try to take the high road because speaking from experience, my bitterness ate me alive. Such awful words she spoke to you. God bless you and I am praying for you.

My pies looked better. I saw my 15 & 16 great grand babies for the 1st time & enjoyed another 4 ages 2-4. So cute. But when I got home 3 cats are missing & my dog. It makes me think it is not worth the trip. every time I go one of them comes up missing.

So much food around at this time of the year.

My friend's memorial was yesterday and took more of a toll on me than I thought it would. Lay down for a 20 min nap this afternoon and woke up two hours later. It was a beautiful service and all the pictures around the altar undid me!! I will miss her so very much.

Good night and God bless all of you.

Hi mamag, no it wasn't Lyn (she lives in New Zealand), but the sad news is that the cancer has come back and she is not going to have more surgery. So not sure how much more time she has left. Thank you for caring and for your prayers. Hugs.

She was a dear and 89. She was always laughing and you felt good just being around her. She was also a bit of a hoarder and was sorting "things" until she died, but she had more love in her little finger than most have in their whole body. Missing her dearly. Hugs mamag.
