A bit sour for me :(

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~ Leo Buscaglia

Too much of our daily life tends to lack the intimacy of empathic communication, so when we do experience it, it's very life-affirming. And as Shakti Gawain says, "My willingness to be intimate with my own deep feelings creates the space for intimacy with another."

Lots on our news tonight about the destructive storms crossing the USA - hope you are all safe and well. God bless you. Hugs.

If you really want to see the power of touch in person, simply hold an elder's hand for a few minutes or give a gentle hug. The smile you receive in return is the warmest of thanks.

Tangerines shouldn't be sour, they should be sweet.

Also, hugs & love to those in Manchester, U.K. C'mon, that lovely 8y/o who was at her first concert...I remember mine--Herman's Hermits, the Who & the Kinks. Anybody out there remember any of those groups or am I really showing my age? My girlfriend & I were Editor & Features Editor of our H.S. newspaper. Somehow the nuns got us press passes so we could go backstage...but didn't...too much hassle with the screaming & pushing. Way Back.

"Mrs. Brown you have a lovely daughter..." My first concert was Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. They were nowhere near as well known as the Hermits. My hometown was too small for concerts so when I had an opportunity to go while staying with my aunt, I didn't care that I had never heard of the group before. And I do know what you mean about the screaming and the pushing although I don't think that has changed over time.

BayGrannie, I remember all the groups you mentioned, although I didn't see any of them. Did see the Stones in Germany, the African songstress Odetta, and Rod McKuen (poet) in Hamburg. Enjoyed that era of song a lot. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Nlb-just woke up & saw your post and BURST out laughing (Mrs. Brown, indeed! ). aknan--NOW I remember Rod McKuen-we had to rush out & buy his poems as soon as they came out. Sam the Sham is another happy memory. I lived near suburb of Philadelphia & at that time music was King. Dick Clark lived in my town. Chubby Checker had the Peppermint Lounge. Thanks to both of you for sharing happy memories!

When I was very small I loved Kate Smith, Rosemary Clooney and Dinah Shore. I think the first concert I ever went to had the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Bobby Vee and some others I don't remember. Other favorites were Ricky Nelson, the Kingston Trio, Dave Brubeck and Joan Baez. Then the Beach Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Eagles, Quicksilver, Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly. Later I got into some country music like Randy Travis, Keith Whitley and Alan Jackson. And Perry Como has always been one of my favorites.

Was Kate Smith the one who sang "God Bless America" for the Philadelphia Flyers that got them going to win Stanley Cup twice in the mid-70's? She called them her "boys". They were my "men" back then and continue to be. Go Flyers-2018!!

My first concert was Metallica, although I'm a lot older than that makes me sound. I never was into concerts since I don't like crowds and have sensitive ears. Metallica is my husbands favorite band and we went shortly after we got married (I wore earplugs - lol).

My first concert was Iron Butterfly. A brand new band called Black Sabbath opened for them; their leader was Ozzy Osborn.

Good morning fiestyolelady.
My day has also begun by making breakfast for my hubby and me, doing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen, taking my husband out for a while so he can get some fresh air. (We want to see how high the water are after all the rain we have been getting), then coming home and doing homework the rest of day while taking care of hubby in between as he cannot do anything for himself. I feel like the fetch and carry person. I love him so much and after 40 years, I just pray God that he is still here. Have a blessed day.

My parents were married for 50 some years. Then one day I was visiting them - I was sitting at the kitchen table with my dad. My mom said from another room "said his name then how much do you love me? He looked at me funny and I told him, she wants you to do something for her....lol

Carol, that is the way it is with my husband. He will ask me if I love him and I always ask what he wants. I just hope we make it through our 40th. I told him, just kiddingly, we are getting a divorce for our anniversary gift. 40 years of torture was enough. In all honesty, we are so in love even if we do get on each other's nerves. We have been through more in the last 40 years than most couples who have been married longer than us. It is hard work but worth every minute of it.
Have a safe and blessed week-end.

Yes amen to that - so sorry for your loss. My parents died 1 1/2 years from each other. We almost lost my mom about 3 times. When I was 12 she suddenly started not feeling well. My dad took her to the doctor and hospital. They thought she had arthritis - then ended up at the Mayo Clinic in MN. She was in the orthopedic dept. and the doctor told her she need to be in gastro intestinal dept. She looked at him and thought huh? She said oh you don't understand I must go home and cook for the holiday dinner. The doctor calmly said Mrs. F you go home now, you'll be dead in 3 weeks. She had liver diease and my dad had multiple myleoma - cancer of the bone marrow.

Once my father drank a whole carton of orange juice then ate a jar of pickles. Did he ever have hives! Turned green.
I was asleep but my mother told me about it.

Maybe it's the acid in them. Do any other foods give you hives?

Have some tangerine juice in my fridge. I once brushed my teeth in the morning. Then arrived downstairs for breakfast. My mom couldn't figure out why I was giving that sour expression when I drank o.j. Told her I just brushed my teeth and then she knew.
