Yummy, I was horrified to be told by the diabetic nurse that this is one of the no- no fruits for diabetics, I still eat it and so far no harm has come my way. Hope you are all OK and enjoying whatever you are doing. Prayers for France and Turkey please. God bless you all Hugs.

It's such a shame that we're told to eat our fruits and vegetables but there are some conditions that make it hard to do that. Glad you are okay with eating watermelon.

It's because watermelon is considered a 'high sugar' fruit. I'm a type II diabetic, though, and I also still eat it.

Barbaranne, are you a type I diabetic or a type II?

I am diabetic also but with #2, watermelon is high in sugar as well as apples are, you just have to watch it how much you eat. Summer time is hard when all the garden stuff comes in! I live in fruit country, surrounded by orchards. Apples, plums, pears, cherries. We eat good in the summer time. Taking my blood sugar in the am and 2 hours after eating, I found eating watermelon is best in afternoon or after test at night, it seems to be stable. But when I include it after supper the sugar runs just a little high. But I am still eating it. It is so good. And yes praying for France and Turkey, and all the families that lost loved ones. May God give them comfort, and put HIS loving arms around them.

Trynfindit I am type 2 so they say, I find it hard to accept that I am diabetic, just dont want to be. I do have to say that I have lost 2 stone so it cannot be all bad.

Barbaranne, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Glucosamine, and B complex vitamins, including B1 (thiamine) and B5 (pantothenic acid) are all good for helping wounds heal.
I'm not one for taking massive of doses of this or that vitamin but I do take a few specific ones that most definitely help me, such as B12, a good vitamin for nerve damage.

Trynfindit..........I take these vitamins, I am type #2 pre..
but the best one is Moringa.....I even grow this in my yard...these leaves have all the vitamins you need and much more....drought resistant no fertilizer needed. Its a tree but I keep mine trimmed to 5ft....they can grow 25ft. you tube it....they call it the miracle tree.

I have already eaten a whole watermelon myself this month. It will hydrate a person. That is for sure!

I think I once saw one at the Missouri State Fair that was nearly 70 pounds. It was pretty large - about a yard wide.

I thought it was a small watermelon compared to the leaves. It is hard to tell the size without a reference point in the picture.

Whatdaya know? I figured the largest one was grown in Alaska. Don't they usually have the very biggest fruits and veggies? I guess not. Hmmm.

I recently bought a very small watermelon that was perfectly round. I had to rearrange some stuff in my fridge to keep it from rolling out. It was absolutely delicious plus no seeds! I will buy another one if the market still has them. YUM!

One solution to your watermelon rolling around: with a sharp knife cut a small, shallow, piece out of the rind and set the melon on that.

Put a pie plate/pan under it.
