Interesting looking stork - I wonder if the bill helps in finding a mate. Perhaps the black area is where the stork holds the bundle holding the baby.

Whom would think a bird as delicate looking as this stork is could have the strength to deliver the babies as they do in some of the Films, animation has really done wonders for this bird, and how they stand for such a long time on there spindly legs is beyond me as most of us some times can not stand on two. Thank you team for giving us this one, have enjoyed putting this one together.

The legend or folktale of storks delivering babies began in Holland. when couples wanted to conceive, they'd wait for the arrival of the stork nesting season. The birds often built their nests on or near the chimney on the roof. The bed was placed in a fortuitous spot near the fireplace to assure conception. I'm not sure how this works scientifically, but it worked for many couples in old Holland. Perhaps the birds symbolized peace and nourishment, which, in turn, set the minds (and hearts) of the parents-to-be at ease, making conception easier than if they felt stressed or worried. The common stork in Holland is white.

How nice it is to hear of the different sayings about the stork and our storks also are white.
