Such cute little birds, don't think we have them here in Aus. Another stinky hot day here with a bad thunderstorm tonight.

Off to bed to turn on the air conditioner. Only relief I get from the heat.

God bless all of you. Hugs.

Funny that you mention the bedroom for relief from the heat. I have a heated mattress pad, and that's MY relief from the cold! Stay cool!

LOL daramba - haven't seen you on here, maybe I have missed your posts. Are you in North America? All this talk of heated mattresses is making me warm already. It is only 5:25am and already 21 deg C - We have to get groceries this morning and planning on getting them early. It is a bit of a crash course for impatient people at this time of the year, and would rather not go out at all. Not sure what makes people run around like chooks with their heads cut off. It is such a beautiful time and so much better to relax and enjoy it. Take care and God bless. Hugs.

Totslly agree the way people pile up their shopping trollies you would think the shops are closing for a month. theres only me and hubby Christmas day my friend is working until 9pm so having Christmas dinner boxing day when she finishes work at 5pm otherwise she wouldn't bother cooking for herself and we love her company. Is such a good friend has done so much for us since husband was taken ill

Hello aussiesapphire, so sorry have not responded. had such a crazy holiday here first had a friend have a mental break with reality then on Christmas day hubby had a heart attack [he is home and doing better now.] yes i'm in north america, oregon, on top of a mountain 2 weeks ago we had a few nights of below zero temps and below 20 during day. I have been doing puzzles on here for a while. read some of the posts everyone left, you all seemed so friendly and supportive of each other that I thought I would submit some myself. i'm not really regular about it yet.my son just called will be home from school in about an hour. stay cool [or warm depending on where you are.]be safe

Hi darambo, bit of a testing time for you :( - I have been concerned about my North American friends because of all the snow, so hope you are safe and well. Never got to Oregon when I was living over there, but the pictures are beautiful and wish I had had the chance to see that State. Take care, God bless. Hugs.

Join the party darambo. When things get too bad this is a wonderful place to find shelter from the storm. Speaking of which how are you surviving all that rain?
Prayers for your husband's full recovery and for you.

Hi kjd, we are neighbors I'm in La Pine just south of Bend. I think things are settling down again finally. Thanks for the prayers I'm sure they helped. Has warmed up just enough to melt the snow. How are you Aussie? Have you melted away? Stay cool. Always wanted to go to Australia seems like a fascinating place. Sounds like you are an early riser also I am usually up between 2:30a.m. and 4:00a.m., seems like the older I get the earlier I wake up.Be Safe.

Thank you for your kind thoughts pixipixil. I think I found a site I feel at home posting to. You have all made me feel welcome. Rain has stopped, just cold now. Hubby doing better everyday although it's getting hard to get him to rest, don't know if he really understands how serious this was. Well never mind about all that stuff, it is what it is. Pixi are you in the usa? How about you CatLadyOKC? Be safe.

IOf you do get chance to see one, theyare green witn a red patch on the head, unlike the spotted they are ground feeders and the other is the one that tats the trees. Some time they are called Yaffles because of their call

Most woodpeckers are black white and red and I asked why, but did not get a satisfactory answer except that red is a color to warn away predators. THis little guy isn't liste in my bird book so mustn't be from North America. Maybe Europe? Some sites claim woodpeckers don't come to bird feeders. Not So! I get downy's often and hairy's and the red bellied ones on occassion. The red bellied is my favorite
Wishing you all day of birdsong.

I love the redheaded woodpecker
pixipixil
Jan 4, 2015
I'd love to see him. The red bellied is closer to the red-headed coloring than any other woodpecker. He has quite a lot of red on his head but not a total helmet like the red-headed.
