I am cooking breakfast for 21 of us. I make Quiche (bacon and cheese) and homemade cinnamon rolls. I get up at 6 am to roll out the dough. LOL> My Quiche is made the night before has to set 11 hours before baking. It is taken over to my sons's house next door as he has a table for 12 and a few others for all the kids. We eat there and he gets the first mess! Then come home to cook dinner for 9 of us. Turkey and all he trimming. I have to say I am tired all ready but today, pies are made, sweet potato casserole done, apple turnovers done. Cranberries done. Tomorrow we go to church but home about 11am. Then dressing to make and stuff the turkey and make the Quiche. I know it will be hard but so rewarding to see all those smiling faces. I am still quite the good cook and we will have some new people who haven't experienced eating here. Tuesday I can pass out in the recliner and not move the whole day! LOL
and believe it our not I did cut back on what I normally do!

I haven't made my cookies yet. I just may not make any this year. After your family is gone nothing is as fun as it use to be. I wasn't going to put up a tree until I found a little one I've had for years. So I put it up just to make the house look like Christmas. These golden years aren't as much fun like it was when you had little feet running around. Does anyone agree with me?

I agree. I miss those days. My grand daughter loves to bake and now bakes and shares. I used to bake 6 different kinds of cookies plus different breads and fudge. Oh I miss the good old days.

Whole-heartedly agree. Kids are far flung so time with grandkids is at a premium. Thankfully, some of our young neighbors are kind enough to share the holidays with us.

Absolutely! The days of raising kids was sometimes hectic but we didn't have time to mull it over; we did what had to be done at that moment. With 8 children, 7 of whom were teenagers at the same time (twins in the middle), we were always busy. I'm thankful to have them all still speaking to each other, as well as to ME. LOL

I'm so sorry you are feeling lonely. I hope all your grown up relatives remember to call around Christmas. You sound a lovely person. x

I can remember those Christmases with little feet running around and I love every memory. But I can honestly say that I enjoy Christmases now with our grown children just as much.
