Using scissors is next on my list. I have 2 t-shirts I have to shorten so I can wear them. Usually bring them to the dressmaker, but she is charging $10 to hem each one. I loved when my mother used to do it for me. Then I did it for awhile. Then dressmaker until now. Guess I'm back to heming my own again. Easy puzzle.

Love it brings back lots of good memories when most of us made our clothes and curtains etc. but nowadays's one find it is a throwaway age and you do not see many people doing this. but one also find it is a faster living pace now. thank you team for this one.

I was trying to figure out the other day what tod do with my clothes, towels, etc. that are too worn to donate. remember the ragman.? And there was always making quilting squares from any scrap she could. Maybe I should look for a quilter. I remember looking at my quilt she made. Each special occasion was honored and all my favorite clothes.

Yes I do remember him, sometimes they would swap your rags for drinking cups, there is a new craze over here at the moment you take your rags, handbags shoes the lot to these shops and they weigh them and in exchange you receive money, but you get more joy making something out of them,
you could try making rag dolls, bring lots of joy to the younger ones. You are very lucky to do the quilting tried but just could not get the hang of it.
Nice hearing what you used to make, and hearing your feed back. take care and enjoy your week end.

Sewing became a yuppie thing a few years back. There are lots of classes for all kinds of sewing. Some of them are quite expensive. There are sewing cruises, camps, and all kinds of things. Kentucky hosts a quit show every year and I'v seen quilts that look like paintings! real paintings. It's not a cheap hobbie either sewing machines /quilting machines/ embr machines are around $5 thousand~

I just finished this as a mystery puzzle. I never saw the scissors until I had the puzzle finished. I thought it rather strange that almost all of the comments were from Aug. 31, 2013. Almost exactly 1 year ago.
I, like most of you did a lot of sewing when I was younger. I made almost all of my own outfits and made shorts from the left over material for my 2 little nieces. Those little girls are now 48 & 49. My how time flies. I usually used double knit fabric that was 88 cents a yard back then. I could make a dress for under $5.00 and that included any trim, buttons and zippers. Those were the days.
