Prayers offered for you and your beloved. My niece had a pacemaker put in at the age of 18, it made a huge difference in her life.

Hi Luvs, I was diagnosed with Bradycardia in 2009 and had a two-lead pacemaker put in. One of my heart valves had completely stopped working and, when they rolled me into the operating room my heart was only beating 14 times a minute. I had been feeling "poorly" the whole year before my pacer surgery and, after it, all sorts of things got better (my voice, my circulation, and many other things; my fingernails even turned pink again - my circulation had gotten so bad I hadn't noticed that my nails were the same color as their "moons.") My heart's been in great shape since then. Will say a prayer for your hubby, for a successful surgery, and for you.

Thank you, all, for your responses -- and, for trynfindit, a big THANK YOU for your first-hand experience. I'm thinking his low blood oxygen levels and this rise and fall in his heartbeat rate may have had a big effect on his brain health, too! Don't know if he can recover what has been lost, but if we can stabilize a bit with better oxygen levels to his heart and brain, that would be another prayer answered. He gets the pacemaker tomorrow and, God willing, will come home Tuesday.

You all are great, wonderful group of folks. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement. Big cyber hugs for everyone.

Luvs, the increased blood circulation and better stabilization of his heart may very well improve the oxygen levels to his heart and brain. You and your hubby are in our prayers.

When I called this morning to find out if they did the procedure, I was told "No. The doctor has changed his medications, and it seems to be working." I found out they stopped his Aricept and atenolol. Stable vitals all day long. They're changing the atenolol to a beta blocker that comes in much, much lower dosages and is taken twice a day. They will see how a dosage tonight and in the morning works, and if OK, may release him tomorrow. They also took him off oxygen! I'll monitor him closely at home for BP, pulse rate, and blood oxygen levels. He may only need oxygen with exertion, as it was up to 98 at rest! Some may scoff, but prayers work -- the answers may not be what we expect -- but the prayers work! Thanks, everyone, from the bottom of my heart.

Not my kind of lunch...lettuce sandwich with a garnish of coldcut. Looks like Swiss cheese, too. Can't eat apples and have lactose intolerance so forget the milk. I like rye, mayo, mustard and ham with a slice of tomato and a bottle of green tea, olives for garnish and some potato chips (shame on me for that. I eat the low fat kind but I'm sure they're still awful for me. Lowfat mayo, too.)
Wishing you an unplifting Sunday.

Pixi, have you seen the Lays low salt potato chips? We REALLY like them so much better than the salty ones.

I tried the Lays low fat. (I don't have high high blood pressure so salt idn't my issue. It's the cholestrol so fat is.) They are, to me, tasteless. I use Cape Cod lowfats. Very expensive but they at least do have the taste of potatoes.

I understand about the low salt chips not having much taste - at first. But we continued eating them because we are watching our salt and, like anything new, we got used to them. It didn't take very long to get used to the low salt chips. Now if we eat normally salted chips they are WAY too salty.
