One subspecies of white rhinos is down to something like 5 individuals. Many parks in Africa have armed guards to try to protect the rhinos and other animals from poachers. For some reason, ground up rhino horn is supposed to cure just about everything - chemically, it's the same as what our fingernails and hair are made of. Unfortunately, some African nations are so desperate for money that they'll sell special passes for wealthy hunters to kill elephants or rhinos. Sad.
The baby is very adorable but I would not want to mess with the mom. They can charge with great force and that is a very long sharp powerful horn. Wooeee!
