These pale raspberries have been sold in large grocery stores in the Northeastern US. I prefer the usual red variety, but I would try a couple of these yellow beauties. Fresh picked are the best, but it is hard to find a field open to the general public.

Doesn't look much like a raspberry tart to me. Very different.

Every day may not be good, but there is good in every day.

That is a weird tart. I think I would prefer red raspberries to yellow. I am hoping today will be a good day. They are starting to get a little better. Still, I have my moments but I will do that from time to time, Hubby's birthday is coming up on the 27th and I am already dreading it.

I am glad some things are getting better. Small steps forward are good. I know somewhat how you feel about your husband's birthday. That was hard for my mom when dad died. My husband has trouble with that day and the day his late wife died. It is hard for the surviving spouse. You are in my prayers, mamag.

And that is what we should look forward everyday! Thanks for the reminder, Elijah!

Mamag, the first anniversary of anything with him gone - his birthday, your anniversary, your birthday, the day you first kissed - these will be heart-wrenching to you, but I promise (and so does God) they will become easier as time passes. They won't be easier because you're forgetting, but because you can remember without sadness. I pray that day comes for you soon. My prayers and hugs.

Thank you, aussie. Was just thinking - how is your friend, Lyn? Haven't heard anything for some time; still praying for her!

Each year after my father's passing I would send my mom a floral arrangement. She always called to thank me for the lovely gesture. One year I sent an arrangement as usual and she called me to thank me saying, "And for no special occasion! " I just told her I thought she'd like them. Several days later she remembered what the 'occasion' was and she called me and invited me to lunch. I so miss them. Daddy passed away in 1986 and mom passed in 2002.

I have not been able to contact her so I think she must have passed away. The cancer had come back and she moved from one side of New Zealand to the other side to a nursing home and to be closer to her daughter. She said she was not going to have it treated this time, so can only assume that she has gone home to be with the Lord. Hugs Aknan.

Thank you for your kind words aknan. As Aussie said, they do mean a lot to me. It was hard after my son but for some reason, this seems even harder.

Aussie, I am also wondering about Lyn. How is she doing? Have a wonderful day my sweet friends.

I hope Lyn received some comfort in knowing we were praying for her and that it made the passing easier. Thank you, aussie.

Hi mamag, She moved from one side of New Zealand to the other and didn't give me the address of the nursing home where she moved to. She only has one daughter and I got the impression that she would not be the kind who would let Lyn's friends know what had happened to her, so can only assume she has passed away as she was not going to get the returned cancer treated. Before she died she sent me a beautiful little Book of Prayer and a small Bible. One of them had 1897 written in it and was part of a collection that she had and knew it would just get tossed aside if she left it to her daughter. The rest of her collection went to a museum in the south island of New Zealand. Sad if she has passed, but I know we will meet again. Hugs mamag.

I am so sorry Aussie. It was very sweet of her to give you such a wonderful gift to remember her. I got to meet a missionary who was in New Zealand.

Yes, I have the tiny prayer book on my coffee table and every time I look at it, it reminds me of her. Hugs. (still pray for you on a daily basis.)

Am I the only one wondering why the raspberries aren't red?

Apparently raspberries come in red, "golden", black and purple.

I don't think I have ever seen yellow raspberries. All I could think of was cheese balls, the snacks that turn your fingers orange. That turned my appetite off.
Is there a benefit to yellow raspberries over red- less seedy, sweeter or something?

That's what I thought when I saw them - cheese puffs! nlbuchanan read that the yellow ones are sweeter and milder.

Per my google search;
"Golden raspberry plants are primocane bearing, meaning they bear fruit off the first year canes in the late summer. They tend to have a sweeter, milder flavor than their red counterparts and are pale yellow to orange-gold in color."
Maybe they would be worth trying, even though they are not what we expect to see when we think "raspberry".

Never figured them for raspberries. Look like kumquats in the little format because of the color. Think I'll skip these and go puzzle surfing today. Wanted to clear out some more winter invasive grass from the flower beds but it's foggy, chilly and wet so I may have to wait for another day.
Hope you are able to carry out your plans for today.

The good Lord heard my prayer for you and gave me an hour of calm, sunny, mild weather, so I got out there and started clearing away the leaves. Had to stop as I put my hip out of joint but I'd have had to anyway as it was time to come in and do other chores. Will have to rest this pm to let the hip go back in place. Now it's gotten blustery.

I did not know that there was such a thing as yellow raspberries! I learned something new today, and that is a good thing. I don't like the way this looks. It may be the most delicious tart in the world, but I seriously doubt that I would try it!! Have a most excellent day and may you be blessed with so many blessings that you just have to share the bounty!
