Very interesting. Never heard of this breed before.

Such an interesting looking dog - in the wild, they'll live about 7 years (double that in captivity). An adult weighs between 4 and 6 kg (about 8.8 - 13.2 pounds) - about the size of a small fox.

Different don't think I'd like him on my porch

Never heard of this little guy before...kind of cute?? In a face-only-a-mother-could-love kind of way. :-) Happy Friday everyone!

I guess you might be a cat and puppy lady, if you think this animal is cute. One can tame skunks, but I don't know about this critter.

Info about puzzles is just below the puzzles and there have been some interesting additions to the information here. I had never heard of this type of dog before, so all very interesting. Hugs.

I think the info says it isn't related to a dog or a coon.
That's why I thought he might be related to the T. devil.

Starrfyre was the one who posted that fact which I got half wrong. The raccoon dog bears no relation to a raccoon but is a wild dog. He is omnivorous, nocturnal, burrows in the ground. Tasmanian devils have similar behavior but are marsupials so that eliminates them from being a close relative.

Have you seen a tasmanian devil pixi? Ihave, I think they are really mean looking, they live in Tasmania.

Hi ichiban--I don't think I've seen any live as in a zoo but I've seen them on nature shows. It was the face that made me think of them and Wikipedia says they look like a wild dog. They don't have long hair so maybe I was combining them in my mind with a badger. The pix of them I saw on google didn't seem like the ones I saw on the nature show.

Wow, what an intriguing creature! Of course, I've heard of raccoons, but I had never heard of a raccoon dog - handsome :-))

Lately I have been watching PEPE LE PEW cartoons and they are still great as well as funny. Le gasp, le pant, le meow, (faint)! I also have Road Runner and Willie Coyote with those Acme contraptions which never work anyway except on Willie. Best $ I ever spent this whole week. I also found a plastic small solar powered turkey exactly what my table needs for Turkey Day. God Bless All.

PS It was this puzzle that made me think of skunks and coyotes.

I think you will find the skunks have a lot of white in them and a very nasty smell or so I am told, heard of the road runner, others no. Have a super day and enjoy your cartoons. VBig hugs from Santa.

A couple we knew when we lived in the mountains had an animal rehab place and of all the animals they cared for the lady's favorite was a skunk. I think they're cute and like their smell--of course not sprayed directly on me!

Super hugs to you too. I think you can de-odor a skunk but then it could never return to the wild as it would have no defense. Saw one in my neigborhood crossing a street and at first I thought it was a big cat. Saw the stripe and backed away slowly. The skunk knew I meant it no harm and I was 5 yards away from encouter anyway.

I've heard skunks rarely venture forth in the daytime so if you saw one it's a good thing you avoided it as it probably was sick.

It was NOT daylight so you can see why I thought it was just a cat crossing the street from the church grounds. Must have a home there or something like that.

That's good for you and the skunk, Rozina. Just assumed if you were out around the neighborhood it would be daylight.

Don't think we have had a skunk, but have had a possum on the porch one time & an a blue racer in the backyard, but the area around us has really grown in the last few years so hope we are done with those.

Possums are ugly. We had a huge coon try to get in our front door when we lived in the Catskills. Also had a 3 legged possum try to climb up the porch post to get the bird's suet but with only 1 back leg he couldn't do it.

My husband says we have also had several skunks and a road runner thru the yard over the years. Just don't think of that when you live in a city.

There aren't any roadrunners in NY but I saw them in AZ and TX. When my folks moved to AZ and we visited my dad used to love pointing out the TV'S (turkey vultures) they had only down there. Now we have TV's in NY. Don't expect the roadrunners anytime soon, tho.
