I rarely ever use a wooden pencil anymore. I use the mechanical pencils now.

Ditto, plus a separate, soft, gray or white eraser.

I was living in the UK when I learned to write. We were issued pens for that. I wrote my name on my desk in pen and then was given pencils from then on for the rest of the year for writing. I can write as neatly with a pencil as with a pen lol

Visiting a pencil factory would, I imagine, be really interesting!
I'd love to know how pencils are made! If anyone has the answer, please explain.

There is a site in the dales, I am sure if you Google it it would pop up and take you on a tour of the pencil making factory. Good luck.
