Had to put the cat down today. I hope that's the last of sad things to have happen this Christmas...the house seems so empty.
Like every one, I loved donuts--especially jelly donuts--as a kid but can't eat them any more. Anything deep fried anything is out.
I do still eat fried food but drain all the oils/grease and even pat it with paper towels. Why do the things so bad for us taste so good?
Healthy foods all seem to require an acquired taste. Not quite all--I do like dates and bananas.

Delete one anything. And the fried stuff is hamburgers, eggs or potatoes (hash not French).

Keep those special memories close.

So sorry to hear about your cat, it really hurts but it does get less painful when we can start remembering the good things without the hurt. It is a little over a year now since I had to put my big ginger tom to sleep and my son still goes to put food out for him when he is feeding the remaining two.
As to your question about why things which are bad for us taste so good, my theory is that it is Gods way of proving he has a sense of humour!

Thank you, Aussie, Hockeyfan and Taffi. I don't have friends and both sides of the family are either distant or deceased so it really helped to have a cat in the house. I could talk away and not feel like I had lost my mind. I just hope there is an animal heaven.

There is an animal heaven pixipixil. My 17 year old Border Collie is there. I think it's great to talk to your pets. I did mine and she would twist her head like she understood what I said. :)

I'll add my 2 cents also; so very sorry to hear about your kitty; I had to put mine down a year ago Christmas. And I firmly believe that there are animals in heaven, it wouldn't be heaven without them. Hugs to you!

So sad for you, Pixi - our animals twine themselves round our hearts, and it's so hard to say goodbye. That cat-shaped emptiness that follows you around! My sympathy to you.

:)) Your welcome, but I knew what you meant, but long distant friends are sometimes the best friends! I feel that way about my puzzle friends I have met since I joined this website. I can't wait each day to log on and see who I've heard from and what others have to say. I feel blessed by you all. Your all special to me! :))))

Pixi, I thought you might like this (thinking of your cat). It's called The Rainbow Bridge:-

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hi Mamag: It sounds like your husband has kidney problems. My dad died of kidney failure. He only had one and was on dialysis for years. he finally had a vision of heaven and quit dialysis. he died two days later. He sometimes tells me things when I am sad so I know he is well and still watching over me. Tell your husband I am praying for his recovery because you still need him.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. Everything now is one day at a time. I know he will never get better but when God is read for him Joe will be with his real Father. What a glorious thought. Our minister was here today and we are talking about getting Joe baptized. I know that will make him feel better and the best gift he will ever give me. Pixi, he does have kidney problems and I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Thank you for the prayers.

Oh the pain :( just looking at that picture makes my mouth start to water. Just as well I cannot reach out and pick them up!!! Even tells you how they are cooked oooohhhhhh!!!!!

"My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people." Orson Welles

"I told my doctor I get very tired when I go on a diet, so he gave me pep pills. Know what happened? I ate faster." Joe E. Lewis

Groaaaannnnn it must be nice not to have to watch constantly what you eat. Just as well we all get new bodies in Heaven - sure am looking forward to that!!!! God bless - take care. Hugs to all.

As a younger person, I used to eat whatever I wanted even when I realized that I didn't always feel so well when I ate bad stuff. Then my doctors would tell me that I was still really healthy. I started trying to eat better just before my 40s and it was working well until lost my job and wound up moving in with my mom. She pretty much doesn't care what she eats and I usually have to eat what she eats and now when I go to the doctor, I'm told I have high blood pressure.

The trick to dieting is to tell yourself that you're "done with that" and focus on all the good foods you CAN eat. There are plenty. Fasting a day or two on water, herbal teas, a raw green drink, and a little fruit juice can work wonders for enhancing the taste buds and getting the body into fat-burning mode. Don't forget to drink plenty of water and walk daily when you're enjoying the new you!

Remember, it's not a diet, it's a LIVE IT. It will help you to live longer if you live eating healthy every day. I have been told that if you pay attention when you are eating, you will sigh when your stomach is satisfied. That is when to stop eating. Give it a try.

These don't appeal to me right now. I have stomach problems. I have a hiatal hernia and I think that's whats causing my problem. Mu stomach feel like it's shutting off my wind. I didn't sleep last night because I couldn't breath. I don't have a cold just swollen up my nose. I suppose it's sinus. I finally got up at 5:00 o'clock and I feel like going back to bed. I also have A Fib and the medicine I take takes all the life out of me. Then to top it off I pulled the most terrible trick I've ever pulled. I had a blouse soaking in my bathroom sink when someone came to the door. I hurried to the door and forgot I had the water running. I talked from about 11:00 o'clock until 2:00, went in the bedroom and found the mess. My bathroom sink had spilled out all over the floor, into the vanity drawers on out into the bedroom carpet for a short space. I turned the water off and ran for every towel I could find. Got the bathroom pretty well cleaned up but having a hard time getting the carpet in the bedroom dry. I have been washing towels over and over. Have a load in the washer and another load in the dryer. another load from the bathroom and then fold, fold, fold. I hate to think what my electric and gas bill will be. This was hot water and the bedroom was all steamy. I have never experienced anything like it. Just dragging those buckets of towels from the bathroom to the laundry room takes my breath away. Remember I'm 87 years old?? Please say a prayer for me that I might have the strength to clean this mess up and that I'll get to feeling better. Thank you ladies. Have a wonderful day.

Logansport, you have our prayers. Please call your local Red Cross and see if there is any help they can give you or direct you to someone who can. If you belong to a church call the rector and ask them for help. There are people who are willing and able to help you.

Logansport, It sounds like you had a miserable day. I will be praying for you. I too am having a terrible day today with my brain, It doesn't seem to want to work. SO I do understand, Perhaps God wants you to just slow down. When my body is not working right, I have one of those days, too. I was cleaning up a mess in the garage, knocked something in the way of the guidewire and it broke which made a roller come off, had to call a repair man to fix it, but all I could think of was 'Thank God, it was not still below zero.' And I agree I too will be praying that someone will show up who can give you a hand and lighten your spirit. God bless you and thank you for sharing with your puzzle friends.

Just prayed for you. Not going to feel sorry for myself today, you need it much more than I do. I have had a hiatal hernia and yes, it can make it hard to breathe, especially when you bend over. May God be with you and send someone to help you. I hope your visit was an enjoyable one and not ruined by the catastrophe.

Has anyone suggested to you that you elevate the end of your bed where your head is? I realise you can't do it yourself but hopefully someone can do it for you. I am almost 70 and also have a hiatus hernia, so I know what you can experience at night, my husband got 2 house bricks, wrapped them in something and put them under the legs of the bed. It helps with breathing. Hoping you are feeling better soon.
