This reminds me of a place in Arizona and I must look up the name.
It is a series of observatories of varying sizes and strengths, going up a curvy hill with the largest one at the top. Fascinating. Location was chosen as it is far from city lights. I wonder if that's still true.

It's called Kitt Peak, and is 56 miles south of Tucson, getting close to the Mexico border.

I use to work about 20 miles north of there in a little community called Three Points. I was with the AZ Dept of Transportation, in the maintenance dept. Our guys had to clear the roads leading up to the Peak, they get some good snow up there.

I have a new grandson!! He was born this morning - 6 lb. 14 oz., 20 inches long. He still doesn't have a name. (I call him Baby Boy Rogers.) He has a thick head of hair...Maybe they should call him Harry! I can't wait to see him, but we have to wait till tomorrow or the next day because Grandpa has a bad cold...Boo-hoo...

All right...he has a name! It's Cooper Theodore Rogers! We still haven't gotten to meet him yet because Grandpa is too sick to be near a newborn baby. And now I'm beginning to think I may be catching his cold. Maybe we'll get to meet him on Mother's Day. (I'm praying it's sooner, tho'.) I'm dying to snuggle with him!

No seaview, this isn't our first, but it may be our last. We have 3 almost grown grandsons (14, 16, & 18) from our oldest son. They are all over 6 feet tall - the middle one is 6 ft. 6.5 inches! Our second, and youngest son waited until he was in his 30's to get married, and Cooper is their second child. They swear there will be no more! I'm praying there will be a couple surprise blessings in their future! I love my grandbabies!!

Wow Joyce you sure have some tall sons, 6 ft. 6.5 inches. I would look like a dwarf next to someone that tall, and my 2 daughters and my Mom are shorter then me and I am short too!
Hope you all get over the colds soon so you can see the new grandbaby and hope your over it way before Mothers day too!

Beautiful name Joyce! Thanks for sharing. Now both of you get well soon so you can start spoiling that baby!

Thank you kjd! I've never known anyone named Cooper, but I think it's cute! We're both working on getting well, but it may take a few more days.

Seaview, I really don't know where they all got their height. My husband and I are both 5 ft. 8 in. tall (tall for a woman, but short for a man). My son (their father) is 6 ft. 4 in., and that was the tallest anyone in the family had ever been. Then his second son decided to shoot up over his dad's head! He may even still be growing! Now the third son (age 14) has decided that he should be even taller so he can play basketball. We'll see!

I'd probably be eye level with his belt. I'm not called Pixi for nothing.

This looks like it may be Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii, (my home island of which I am very proud) and about which there is a controversy about building a bigger telescope. YES, the skies are very blue!!! Gorgeous! Hawaii No Ka Oi!

I have never been to your lovely state. Did you know people live longer in Hawaii than any other state in the USA?

Probably true! Case in point: My MIL died two months before her 100th birthday. I am 75 - and still kicking in paradise! Whatever my departure age, hope to be mobile to go to the bathroom alone and still know my name! :-)

Thank you all - a more wonderful bunch of people would be hard to find. Kinda makes the sadness of my daughter's attitude fade a little. My sister let her know what had happened and she was not interested. One day.......Hugs to all who care.

Aussie so sorry to hear of your daughters attitude. I was thinking this might of brought her around with your recent stay in the hospital till I read your comment. I cant understand what goes thru some of our childrens heads sometimes.
Your not alone as I have been thru the wringer more then once with some of my children on and off. There are the ones that always stick by me but some of my sons have ended up with drama queens that are not happy unless they are stirring up trouble and splitting the family up. My sons never put their foot down and just put up with it but those women are so controlling that my sons allow it and make it worse.
I got to the point that I was so stressed out that I stay away from all the drama in order to keep my sanity and I felt like it was making me sick too so I am better off with the normal kids and maybe some day my sons will get their eyes open.
This must be very hard on you especially right now but know that there are people that do care about what happens to you and I am one of them.

I thought the same thing - that maybe this could bring aussie & her daughter back together. But I guess it's going to take longer. I still have them (aussie & her daughter) in my prayers. And seaview - don't give up hope. I hope that all mothers & children can appreciate each other while they still can.

Thank you globug and seaview. I have two friends, one in NZ and one in Canada who are having the same problems with their children, so know I am not alone in this. Everyone on here has been so wonderful and I do appreciate all the prayers and love expressed. Hugs.

Sort of reminds me of when I was younger. I live real close to the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park Calif. in LA. I have been there many times and have also looked through the big telescope at night. The sky and all the stars and far planets were amazing. I haven't been there for a while tho. I can't remember which planet the telescope was looking at but it was really an awesome experience.

I always wanted to visit Australia sometime but unfortunately it costs to much. I have always wanted to dive the great barrier reef when I was younger and have always wanted to see a kangaroo and koala in the wild. I am glad you are out of the hospital and feeling better.
