Hmmm...I see some colors I wouldn't mind trying. My daughter gave me a gift certificate for Christmas, and as soon as I start wearing sandals again, I'll use it. She told me to "pamper my tootsies". Love her to bits.

Why wait? I give myself a manicure and pedicure every Sunday and have done so for many decades. I do it because I enjoy having nice fingers and toes - it's just for me! Indulge yourself!

I've had constant pedicures for several years in a row (summer and winter), and the salon noticed that my nails were starting to become thickened with ridges and scale-like, and she suggested that I let my nails breathe without polish for at least half a year. I took her advice and they're looking good again. I always used gel polish and only had them done once a month. Can't imagine doing it once a week.

I'm with you micki. I only get pedicures during the months when I wear sandals and let my nails "breathe" the rest of the year.

Micki, I don't use gel polish - too expensive and complicated for me to do at home. I take the polish off on Friday afternoon (I'm going to be cleaning house, so who cares? ) and it doesn't go on again until Sunday. I also have a solar nail glaze that lets the nailbed breathe. It's touched up every 3 weeks and I've been using it for about 4 years. When a glaze does pop off, the nail underneath is strong enough to polish. Before using this, my nails were peeling and splitting. It's been an amazing change and worth it to me. Oh - the actual polish time is around 25 minutes. I use a quick-dry topcoat that's just amazing!

Thanks for the info aknan. My thing is that I go to a salon and I don't do my own nails, nor do I want to. Never heard of a solar nail glaze....interesting.

I don't have manicure's because working at the library and handling books are too rough on painted nails.....however, I love my pedi's and at the moment mine are a dark wine color for fall. In the spring and summer I go for a more mauve/pink color.

Not too interested in nail polish, but I love the colors in puzzles.

How fun! What colors do you like? I've never been much of a nail painter, but I really like the looks of painted nails. Guess I still have some tomboy left in me! lol

Stay safe all my fellow Floridian puzzlers...may God be with all of us and keep us safe from Irma...I also pray that the very large tall oak tree six feet from my bedroom window will stay put so I think I will spend the night on the floor near the back door just in case...I have re-read the story of Noah and the ark and we are all in very similar times with the people in this wonderful world who are so confused
and unhappy with everything...I pray that all of us in Irma's path will make it through safely...and many thanks to all my friends who have contacted me with emails, phone calls and prayers...God is good!

All is good here in southwest FL. Please continue praying for those in the Keys, Marco Island, Naples and points in between. We are about 35 miles north of Naples, but by the time the storm reached us it had calmed down. There was a lot of damage in the Ft Myers/Cape Coral area, but not as bad as south of us. Thank you for all your prayers and positive thoughts. GBU all of you!!

It was a wild and wicked night here in Disney paradise...My kids wanted me to go stay with them but I just wanted to stay with my "stuff" but when the wind really got wild and stuff began flying around, my younger son came and stayed with me as he lives in an old Florida wooden "cracker" home that rests on cement blocks, no foundation, so his house was really rockin'. The best miracle of all when morning arrived I realized that my little home still had power which meant air conditioning was alive and well...we were so lucky to have survived with no major damage and the big old tree still stands proudly by my window. However, many poor Floridians south of us were not so fortunate and I pray for them...thanks for all the messages and prayers...even though I had no internet, tv or phone, including cell, I did stay cool so all was fine with me...thank you so much for all your prayers....

So glad you and your family survived Irma. I think the aftermath is sometimes worse than the hurricane. God bless you. Hugs.

I thank God for answering many prayers concerning Irma. Yes, there was a lot of damage, particularly to the south, but He surely calmed the storm to protect so many more. And we will keep praying for mercy and help while people try to recover their lives as best they can in the aftermath of such destruction. May God continue to bless you.
