I'm wondering how this fan was put together. My theory is that each color is an individual folded piece of paper which is then glued together.

There are two things I would like to learn before I die, one is origami and the other is quilling.

Take care and God bless. Hugs.

I also would like to learn two things before I die. One is how to improve my memory, and I forget what the other one is.

I've been interested in quilling since the late 70's, but have never done anything about it.

I have done some simple origami, though. If you google it, you can find some easy ones to try out.

I taught myself how to do origami when I was younger. Do you think I can remember anything now? lol Quilling would be very unusual. What quills would you use?

Hi taffi, I did the same with folk art! And learning about which quills to use will be part of my learning experience with quilling. Hugs.

I have samples of quilling done by Ojibwe on Manitoulin Island. I was in college and had to do a written/spoken presentation. Started it early so I'd have all kinds of things. The focus was on the art of the Ojibwe. They are one of the First Nations in Canada. Their quills were porcupine, if I remember right. Those are longer so they can cut them down to size and then use the other bits in designs. Just amazing what they could do. Birch bark, shaped into a lid on a shaped box. The box would be coloured and the lid would have a design of quills with colour to pick up the base. I still have it and treasure it.

Hi taffi, that was very interesting confirmation and didn, t realize that there was quilling done another way. The one I am interested in learning is with paper and this illustrates this technique - https://makezine.com/2013/10/02/quilling-101/

Are you from Canada. I lived in Ontario for a couple of years.

Hugs.
