I'd love some of this now. Makes me hungry, but it's almost dinner time. All I have for goodies now is cookies, so that will have to do!

I don't like the food puzzles as they seem to always make me hungry but I would still much rather have a piece of a fruit pie and will take pie over cake any day. I do love pumpkin pie too but right now I would like a piece of blackberry pie. The neighbor gave me some rhubarb though so I better settle for rhubarb pie although I do love that kind of pie. I am the oddball that doesn't care for strawberry rhubarb pie though. I like the old fashioned straight rhubarb pie for me!

I'm with you on pie over cake. I never had straight rhubarb pie. We always had the mix. Funny you should mention strawberry-rhubarb because we just ate out and they had strawberry - rhubarb cake and it was delish.

I thought Strawberry Rhubarb was the name of the red rhubarb. Do people actually mix rhubarb and strawberries together?? Rhubarb pie is one of my favorites but I never thought you could mix rhubarb and strawberries.

Animalvr143, strawberries and rhubarb are a very common mixture. Not just good in pies, also very good as a jam. The strawberries moderate the bitterness of the rhubarb and you can use less sugar in the mix.

My favorite pie is BLUEBERRY!!

Yes animalvr, they mix em together. Of course you cut the rhubarb into chunks and let the barb and berries sit in sugar for a while first.

Thank You everybody for your imput. I will have to try it sometime. I have only made what the cook book calls Rhubarb Custard Pie. I has eggs, sugar, nutmeg, and a little flour. And of course cut up Rhubarb.

I'm with you seaview. I'm not fond of strawberry rhubarb pie either. My favorite is rhubarb custard. I have rhubarb growing in my garden right now. I hope I have enough for a pie, if not maybe a nice rhubarb crisp would suffice.

Annie is rhubarb custard a pie or something totally different? If its a pie I am assuming it has milk and eggs or something like that. Sounds good whatever it is. I really love rhubarb crisp too. I cut up all the rhubarb from my neighbor but its so late I think I will make a pie or something tomorrow but at least its cut and in ziplock bags in the fridge.
This is the only place I have ever lived where my rhubarb grows horrible. I even got rhubarb from my Mom to start a few years back and she has the biggest and best rhubarb ever but I even put some good dirt in to plant it in ( I have the worst sand ever) and its a joke. Its a struggle to grow things here but the rhubarb is ridiculous. I am going to fertilize it way more often and see what happens. Nothing will grow here without fertilizer and a lot of it. I never had to use fertilizer for rhubarb till this place and still awful so I am going to do it more often and see what happens.
Anyone know how to make it grow in awful soil?

Can you get some clay soil? Where I lived in the Catskills it grew w/o help and that was heavy clay soil. It was in a field growing wild and I went to get some and a thorn went through the sole of my sneaker into my foot. Yowie that hurt.

PS: I know rhubarb has no thorns. It was from a hawthorn also growing wild that must have lost a branch on the ground.

Seaview, you may have to make some raised beds, filled with commercially available soil, to grow things. We have very sandy soil here in Fla and often have to supplement the soil with peat humus, Black Cow and commercially-sold top soil.

One way we improved a lot of the soil in our yard - this takes years to happen - was to dump containers of fishing worms into our beds. Those worms do wonders to improve the soil. Of course, like I said, it's something that you do early on as it takes a few years for the worms to improve the soil.

Yes, the rhubarb custard that I was referring to is indeed a pie. It has rhubarb, eggs, milk, sugar, flour, salt, nutmeg and margarine. It is oh so good. Good Luck growing a better crop of Rhubarb.

I'm one of those who doesn't care for mint and chocolate together. I just had mint and chocolate cookies at my son and daughter in law's house. I had to say nice things about them and they weren't that bad, just nothing I would make.

I have to get ready and go to a viewing this morning. That is something I just don't like to do but sometimes we don't have any choice, I'm so o tired. I wish I could go back to bed. zzzzzzzzzz

Hi Jingles: I find I get tired when I have to face something I don't want to do. Hope it turns out to not be so bad.

I'm with you on that combo, Jingles. I love chocolate, not much of a mint fan but especially not together. The rest of my family loved mint/chocolate chip ice cream. I'm having my oatmeal as I type this, yummy. Would be even better in cake!!!!!

The only mint I like in foods are those chocolate/mint Girl Scout cookies and a certain mint patty. And a candy cane or two at Christmas. And mint is good to suck on when you have a sore throat.

I use mint for a stomach ache or flu too but I really prefer the spearmint over the peppermint as its not so strong tasting but still works. If I need something really strong though I use peppermint or will mix with spearmint.

I don't like spearmint much. For me it's peppermint but there used to be these pretty suger cream wafers in pastel colors that also had wintergreen (the pink one in the box) and I liked that best of all.

I'm with you Pixi on the mint. I buy bags of the wintergreen Life Savers and eat them while I read. I read a lot and can't afford the calories from chocolate. And thank goodness for the reading devices. As the vision deteriorates, one can just make the font bigger.

Plus you can turn out the other lights and curl up in bed. I have a tablet but am unhappy with it so I don't use it much. In the store it typed so responsively but the one I have doesn't.

Pixi, I have two and I'm convinced they are alien beings with minds of their own, sent here to drive us crazy. You are right though about the reading without the lights on, great huh?

I 100 % agree with you about tablets and computer. They seem to hate me. I do something and it never does what I want, my husband does the exact same thing and everything works perfectly. I love my Nook reader tho.
