I had a smaller version of the Collie...a Shetland Sheepdog, also known as a Sheltie. Anyone who has owned one knows what a special breed they are! So loyal and loving, especially with children. My Danny Boy was truly a wonderful guy with a big heart.

My family have had 7 Shelties in the last 30 years. Love the breed. We have shown them in confirmation (beauty shows), played agility and herded sheep with them. But honestly I have to correct the wrong idea so many here have. Shelties have no relationship with the Collie. They look like them, yes, but there is no Collie breeding in the Shetland Sheepdog breed.I did this puzzle because it looks like our boy Willie. He was 15 1/2 and we lost him last night. I think thats the only reason I'm ranting here. Sorry.

My heart goes out to you on the loss of Willie. I just lost my 12 yr. old soul mate two months ago. A Calico cat I named Callie. I cried for three straight days and when I picked up her ashes....another three days of tears. No matter the animal, our loss is so great. I'm now too old for young pets, so I have decided to foster kittens or pups from my local shelter until they're ready for adoption. Again...hope your heart heals soon.

It is amazing how the paws of our pets can wrap themselves around our hearts. I still miss my Penney; I had to put her down in 1986. We'll see them again in Heaven. Oh, and I still cry, sometimes.

I believe strongly that I will see all my family, which includes all our dogs and cats, in Heaven. It couldn't be a Heaven without them. The comment I made to my sister who was holding Willie when he died was that Debi (our older sister whom we lost 3 years ago) would be waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge. Along with Willie's litter mate Amber who will once again put him in his place and remind him who the princess is.

The face sure looks like Lassie. Those were wonderful shows. Wish my grandkids were growing up with the innocence that we did. I think the world would be a better place.

Beautiful puzzle of a mini collie. Does anyone remember the television show Lassie? The puzzle reminds me of Lassie, a full size collie. Loved that show as a kid. Remember Lassie's buddy, Timmy (jon Provost) and the Mom (june Lockhart)? Old black and white tv, with the rabbit ears! :)) :)) Thanks C4J for taking me back to childhood. Enjoyed the puzzle.

I also remember those days. I had a full size collie, black & white mainly, but you'd never guess her name was Lassie...

Remember the old phone in the kitchen? You had to crank it to get the operator, the sort of bell shaped ear piece and her stretching up to reach the mouthpiece. We lived in the country and had one like that when I was young. Our local operator was a neighbor with the switchboard in her bedroom. If you wanted to ring anybody local, she knew whether they were home or not, even sometimes if they were taking a nap! (It was a very small town) Our ring was 2 long, 1 short. I'm getting old!

Oh my goodness, that right and we had party lines! I'd pick-up the phone to call out, had to check if anyone was on yacking away before dialing. We had prefixes back then, like Sherwood 7. Takes me back.

Really weird. I had visions of Lassie as I was doing this puzzle too!

As to party lines, I lived on Manitoulin Island for a while and we had a party line. At one point, we got switched as we had a very chatty person on the other line and we'd have to ask them if we could use the phone. They got their own line eventually lol This was 25 years ago. Now I'm feeling suddenly old!

Hi Taffi, I had no idea where Manitoulin Island is, so I looked it up. Found Ontario, Canada, Lake Heron, 1, 068 sq mi island. Quite large for a fresh water lake island. Rather remote. Now I didn't know anything about this island. Very informative.
We learn so much here chatting back and forth. So glad to have this C4J site to chat with people from around the world. We learn from one another. :) Thanks Taffi for sharing. :)

Found this a tough one, felt as though I had traveled all over Scotland with Lassie. I presume this is the one and only Lassie.

Hi Santaclaus, Yes there was the original Lassie tv show here in the USA from 1954 to 1973. Jon Provost played the roll of Timmy. I'm not sure, but I think he left the show in 1964.

Cute dog, but there really is no such breed as miniature collie--it is a Shetland sheep dog, or Sheltie.
