Mystery for today

I remember flying over a lightening storm like this on the way to California. It kept me and my son entranced for most of the trip. Turned out to have been one of the worst to hit the midwest in a while.
The weather these days is more of a news item than the politico-military scene. If only all this drama and beauty weren't so destructive!
Hoping your day has at least a hint of spring. (A few tiny things are blooming in my yard--beauties of the snow (the tiny ones--I have the bigger ones also) and three miniature iris. The few crocuses I have are getting ready to open also.)

Our garden is coming along. We've planted tomatoes, cukes, squash, basil, oregano, and strawberries. In our side yard garden I've put in two new roses to go with a rose that's already established over there, dwarf bottle brushes and two crinum lilies. All of those are to the left of the blueberry bushes and our navel orange tree. Against the garage I've planted two large planters with honeysuckle on trellises. The camellias were gorgeous this year as were the azaleas. God's blessings all.

Sounds beautiful, Trynfindit. I don't know what crinum lilies ar but I'm familiar with the rest.

One of my three native azaleas is blooming right now. Cammies were new last year too and they all bloomed. I can see the 4 O'clocks getting bigger. I don't know if I'll plant this year. Maybe just try to keep what I've got alive. I would love blueberries. I wonder if they grow in a seasonal wet area, and if they need a lot of sun...google time I guess.

So you will have new life all around you, in the shape of flowers, spice, and fruit! You just made me tired by reading all you've been up to. lol Your yard and home must be places you love.

Everyone in our family loves to garden. When my kids were little I used to plant something every year that I'd never planted so they could see how things grow. One year it was brussel sprouts, one year eggplant, sweet potatoes, etc. The year I planted peanuts was a hoot - the squirrels got to some of them and peanut plants started coming up all over our yard and some in our neighbor's yard!

Too true. You can plant and fertilize and water and maybe some of it comes up but let a squirrel, chipmunk or bird carelessly drop a seed ot two and you end up with a forest of it.

I count about 25 major streaks of lightning.
My worst experience (and the best! ) with lightning was when I was dog-sitting for a family pup. I awoke to the low rumble of thunder but didn't think anything of it. Then there was the most violent clap of thunder --- I thought the house would split in two. The pup, who was sleeping out in the hall, flew from the door of my room to my bed --- never touched the floor. Landed on me --- shivering --- and we cuddled for a long time as both of us calmed down. It is a frightening memory --- and a dear one.

Beautiful!! I am an odd duck, I love rain, and thunderstorms. So of course I moved to the driest part of our country! What love will do...Today we've had an hour or so of good rain, and they say there's more to come this weekend. I pray to God they're right for once, the winter has been bone dry in this part of Spain. Went out shopping this morning during a lull and the smell of wet earth and pavements was delightful.

I do not like these kinds of storms. Thunder gives me the creeps. I hate loud noises. I hope you also have a blessed day.

Haha! I'm with trynfindit! My mom said I was like that all my life. Born on the gulf coast of Texas and slept through a hurricane when I was a baby.

Time lapse photography, thank goodness. I'd hate to be somewhere that had that much lightening all at once.

An expert could probably tell you how long the picture took based on the length of the star trails.
