I don't know if I've ever seen hyacinth flower or not. Hyacinth reminds me of a British comedy program, "Keeping Up Appearances" with Patricia Routledge. Her character's name was Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced bouquet) and her sisters' names were Daisy, Rose, and Violet.

I remember that show - it was hilarious! You brought back a whole lot of laughing memories, JamieT.

That was a great show - I'm glad PBS introduced America to many British shows.

I still watch the reruns! Doc Martin is another one of my favorites.

This Bluebell takes me back to when I lived in England and we would go into the woods and pick them to give to mother and friends.

Dainty. you rarely hear that adjective any more. A lot of my hyacinths come up like this although they are supposed to be full like a bottle brush of flowers. I chalk it up to bulbs half eaten by the chipmunks.
Wishing you happy gardening this Saturday.

So, that explains it. I've never seen any like this - only the full "bottle brush" shape - which I think of as both dainty and robust.

You mustn't have chipmunks OzSomeOne. Of course it could also be poor soil or crowding but whatever it is I'd prefer the fuller ones. Happily any kind smells beautiful.

Pixie I looked all over for Daintys comment to see what you were talking about and then finally realized you were talking about the hyacinth, lol. This cloudy rainy weather is making me soooo tired and like a zombie.

Seaview, the tiredness sometimes hits me so hard I feel dizzy. I hope you can get the rest you need.
The rain makes me zone out, too. Very depressing, although right now we have had such a dry May I am praying we do get the rain that was forecast.

Have loved hyacinths since I was a kid. I have some that I planted years ago and love the smell, its a smell you never forget. I think my Mom must of had some when I was a kid.
At least my weekend hasn't started out totally alone. My boyfriend stopped last night and didn't realize how late it was and had the early shift this morning. He has so much to do all the time and is always helping people besides and gets too little sleep.
Almost as soon as he sat on the couch he was falling asleep and I told him he was falling asleep but he insists hes not, so it was too hard to try and keep him awake so he fell asleep and the next thing I knew I fell asleep too with my legs in his lap, and we woke up hours later like that with him barely having enough time to get to work. I guess we both must of been tired, lol!

Does he rub your feet?

My feet were actually hanging off the other side of him, but while he is sleeping every once in awhile he squeezes or rubs the bottom part of my legs which was the part in his lap. He doesn't know he does it but I had to hold back some laughs every time he would do that!
