Beautiful! My aim is to finish all the Christmas puzzles by Christmas! Have written down where I left off. Before, just did one and so had to find out each time whether I did it. That wasted my puzzle time, so doing it this way now.

Yes KNadineM, made it through another year! And it's Christmastime! It's been a very tough year. So glad to have made it this far. Actually looking forward to Christmas. Just hope my husband doesn't ruin it for me. He Hates all holidays. He is the ultimate Ba-humbug. He just likes himself in his own little bubble. He never should have married, but of course he needed a maid to take care of his sorry selfishness. This Christmas I am grateful for the friends I have and a couple of very special aunts. :) One is coming to visit next week. Have a Merry Christmas. :)

So sorry to hear you are not well Jingles, you have so much to share and offer on here. Perhaps this will help - Jeremiah 30:17 "For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, saith the Lord."
God bless you, know you are loved and cared for on this group. Hugs.

Has anyone seen a message from Jingles since the initial post on Dec 22? Was thinking of her today as I sat down for prayers. May God bless Jingles, KNadineM, and all those who haven't been feeling up to par in this new year -- 2015.

I need them LuvsW - went to the doctor yesterday and she really upset me. I am trying everything I can for my diabetes, but it is not enough for her. Think she just wants me to drink water and eat lettuce leaves!!!! Not very likely. lol - hugs.

Been diabetic for over 50 years -- Type I. When you grow up with it, it gets easier to "know" what to do and not to do. Just remember that most everything you eat turns to sugar in the bloodstream. The only "free" foods are usually crunchy, uncooked vegetables. I'm too old to learn the new carb counting system, and base everything I eat on the old "exchange" system. Probably some good exchange lists on-line -- things to remember like 1 large banana equals 2 fruit exchanges. A 1/3 cup of rice equals 1 slice of bread or one small baked potato. Ask her for a consult with a dietitian and then ask the dietitian for an 1100 to 1200 calorie diet as per the exchange plan (not carb counting). Most folks can healthily lose weight on 11-12 hundred calories per day. (900 is too few) Then, stick with it and try to get some exercise. I'm not talking cardio stuff -- walk a block or two every day, weather permitting. Object is to "tone" each cell in your body to receive the insulin needed to change carbs into energy instead of having the insulin bounce off the cell. There are itsy bitsy receptors in each cell, but our fat cells block passage to the receptors so that no matter how much insulin we naturally produce, or we take enhancers for, or we take by injection -- some of it just doesn't make it into the cell. Even light exercise helps open up those passages. Don't get discouraged! Bunches of cyber hugs coming your way! [Luvs]

Yikes aussiesapphire! I'm sure there has to be more interesting foods to eat that won't complicate your diabetes. I think that would upset me too. Blessings to you and your health!

Thanks you Luvs for your advice, am going to try to go swimming as that takes the weight off my joints which need some WD40 at the moment lol. And thank you KNadineM - appreciate your kind thoughts. Hugs.

Hi AussieS -- Swimming is excellent, and so are regular types of exercises done in water -- leg lifts and rotations, arm rotations and swaying, holding to the side of the pool and paddling feet, marching in place. Easy does it, but regularity counts. Hoping all goes "swimmingly"! Best of luck, my crazy4 friend!

Aussie, I have Type 2 diabetes and my dietician said to "eat as close to the ground as possible", a/k/a, raw veggies, and as little "processed" foods as possible, i.e. cook lean meats yourself rather than buying prepared frozen entrees, buy fresh rather than canned or frozen foods which have more salt, etc. I buy canned veggies but buy the ones that have no salt added. I've found that eating a (very small) apple (or cut a larger apple in half) helps to push foods through the digestive tract faster so the body has less time to absorb calories and natural sugars from foods. I'm not a walker but do enjoy riding my bike.

I have high blood pressure but I was told that you should basically try to stick as much as possible to foods on the perimeter of the grocery store which are fresh foods and as little processed as possible as trynfindt said. The doctor said that I still should watch my sugar intake as well as sodium intake. I was told to also eat little small meals throughout the day instead of just the 3 huge meals.
