Most goldfish in the USA are more of a golden color. Gold fish grow to the size of their environment. I am large pond, they become much larger. In a small fish bowl, they remain small.

I saw something not too long ago about people being warned not to dump goldfish into streams, I think in Australia. People were catching goldfish that were over a foot long and weighed several pounds - they also eat up a lot of the food that is normally eaten by native fish, endangering those populations.

I have seen quite a few gold fish that were over a foot long in ponds. It gives us something to pond-er.

And yes, I am aware that gold fish don't have feet.

I think I have a black thumb where gold fish are concerned, they seem to go belly up in a very short space of time. :(

Two Goldfish in a bowl.

One says to the other "Help I'm dieing."

Other one says "Don't worry, I'm a sturgeon."

What is yellow and dangerous? - Shark infested custard! -

Boom, boom

Take care and may God bless you with a sense of humour to put up with my jokes ;) Hugs.

Aussie....these fish contaminate their water because they "poop" a lot...overfeeding etc....water change is very important and detoxing tap water is a must. AND you need to remember their home...one inch of fish per one gallon of water...so if you have a 5 inch fish you need a 5 gallon container and as the fish grows their home needs to be larger...the larger the home the easier it is to take care of.
Good luck with your next try.

Hello aussiesapphire and all here, I am glad I came on here today as you have brought A BIG SMILE to my face with your jokes. while away from here, my hubby read all the comments for me and did the puzzles as I tried to recover from ''my darker days''. which I hope are getting ''brighter''. as regards goldfish when my son was 2 now 44 he got a goldfish from Gramps a kindly gentleman who lived next door and all his family lived in the USA. By the age of 6, 4 goldfish lived and died and he never knew as I took the dead one to the pet shop and bought a similar one. he found no 5 dead and with a big grin on his face. he said ''now can I dig a hole so the worms will have food''...So much for me worrying about him. God Bless you all and may you all see brighter days.x

Dear D5, May your 'darker days' become shorter and your 'brighter days' become longer. Memories like this one about your son can help, so keep thinking of those. :-) Take care!!

Don't usually do fish pictures, but thought I'd get my feet wet on this one. I'm sure my two cats would really love me if I got a little aquarium for them to look at. I think fish kind of mesmerize a person watching them swim around, at least for me that's true. Most are so colorful...just like this puzzle.

Watching fish swim is a very relaxing experience. That's why so many doctors and psychiatrists have fish tanks in their offices. At many nursing homes, computers play a fish video to help the patients stay calm.

You're so right. Always see them in Doctor's offices. Hope I don't end up watching a fish video in a nursing home. :>) Rather see the real thing in my own home. Now if someone would clean the tank for me, I might consider getting one.

Hi Barbaranne. If you want to increase your guppy population, throw a strawberry container into the tank--the clear plastic kind that has narrow ventilation slits. Keep the top of it shut. When the guppies have their young they eat them but if you have the container in the tank the baby fish can swim thru the slits and be safe from the adults. I did this in my son's fishtank and we eventually got 37 fish before he started to feed them to the cat. We had neons, guppies and mollies and the guppies seem to have cross bred with the mollies because the new fish were larger than the guppies and had black patches but were smaller than the mollies.

The guppies in our tank have no problem at breeding, we have so many from time to time that we have to give them away, Thank you for the suggestion I will pass it on to a friend who says all the babies disappear.

One fish
Two fish
Red fish
Blue fish

Fishy, fishy in the brook.
Daddy catch him on a hook.
Mommy fry him in a pan.
Baby eat him like a man.

Have a blessed day.
