My father liked all kinds of fishing. He even taught me to tie my own flies. We loved fishing with dad. I miss it. I don't get to fish anymore so its a beautiful memory that I go to often. Have a peaceful, beautiful day! :-)

I never fly fished, but my aunt taught me to "jigger" the pole. Somehow the movement attracted the fish to the bait. I don't fish any more since practicing veganism. I'm sure those Alaskan fish are pure, though. When I was still eating fish, Alaskan halibut was my favorite--very mild, no fishy taste.

I do not think I would enjoy fishing like that,

Patricia, there's nothing quite like standing in the middle of the stream, casting for silver salmon, with a bear wandering by on the bank. It will always be one of my favorite memories up here in Alaska.

I must say the same. I think of the times we waded up a cold stream in Oregon. The water was so clear I didn't think there could be fish in it or I would see them. Dad caught some nice trout. I caught nothing. Guess you must have faith without sight.

Where in Oregon? I live on the southwest border of WA, have done a fair amount of fishing in both states!

Eugene, in the Willamette Valley. Beautiful!! Of course I was only 17 and focused on other things at the time. How sad - what a waste of such beauty.

It can't have been a complete waste if you still recognize the beauty.

Hi jajac,

I take it by your logo that you are indeed from France. What part if I might ask? What is the weather like there this time of year? I know bonjour is good-bye and amis is friends but what about the middle?

You told me this b4 but I am never sure of my memory these days.
I see you're around today. Anne says you're from France but I thought you were from Monaco. Which one if you don't mind telling us? ---again!

When we lived on LI and would drive along the beach parkway we'd see the men casting out across the surf. They caught huge fish--mostly bluefish. Much more exciting than the small fry in lakes and rivers. Does he surf cast or go out on a boat? One of my cousins takes people out on his boat to fish. He borrowed big bucks from a nun aunt (now deceased) which he never paid back so he could buy it.

Jajac, thank you for clearing that up for us. I know bonjour means hello, I don't know what I was thinking. My world geography is horrible. I did not know that Monaco is that close to France. Always look forward to hearing from you.
