I did a mail box for my parents house when they lived in Arkansas, but it was painted with roses, it was at the edge of rose garden in their front yard.
We use to go there & go fishing, but you are right none were that ugly!

H I let my dad take it off the hook. Have you ever caught a pike while fishing? I let my dad take it off the hook; teeth are very sharp.

Yes, I have seen those teeth on walleyed pike. They were worth the risk though, when it came time to eat! lol

Those were fun to catch & one of the few I liked to eat. We used to go to a lake in NW Kansas to catch them. Took our tent & stayed in it for the weekend.

I had 2 brothers and a sister who lived in Show Low, AZ. They practically lived on the water, fishing, day and night, whenever they got the chance. I spent the night on the lake with a couple of them once, and boy did we eat good the next day!

Many years ago, before kids and getting old. We have lived in KS and OK when hubby was still able to get around all that stopped when he broke his neck in '89.

Rahrah, did you ever get the hookups [hiccups] when you were fishing. I thought you were just handing us a line. You don't have to answer. Just wave.

Agree that this mail box is ugly. My parents mail box was in the shape of a house. My grandparents belonged to a trout club. I've been to Alaska - had to go to the doctor on Friday. Was just there a few weeks ago - I was worse. Now on 5 different meds. Was planning on having lunch with an uncle and will have to postpone that. Was quite sad a few weeks ago - Ugh!

Our dear friend Aknan from Alaska told me about a salmon festival they have in Alaska each year and I saw lots of things which were made to look like salmon, but not sure I saw a letterbox. Perhaps you can help me out on that Aknan.

Do I not destroy my enemies when I make them my friends? – Abraham Lincoln

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. – Marcel Proust

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Love, love, love the quote from Marcel Proust! We went to the funeral of our neighbor, and friend, and this describes him, and his wife perfectly. Thank you!!

No, aussie, no letterboxes. The salmon were of fiberglass, about 6' long and around 3' high - salmon proportions, of course! The "blanks" were auctioned off and the artists were free to cover them in whatever struck their fancy, usually with a theme for the Salmon Walk that year. We've seen some great ones, too. At the end of the display period - all over downtown, so it was a nice walking tour to view these - the completed fish were auctioned off, again, and are on display in various offices, restaurants and public buildings all over Anchorage.

I agree...I painted one with roses for my mom & dad's
in Arkansas it was just at the edge of my dads rose bed.
That was a long time our kids were still in elementary school.

I'm sure it was pretty. I have no artistic talent. Yucky day today. Thundering now and I have to go to my hairdressers house to feed her cats in a few hours. Rainy weather thru Monday and thatls when my "cat duty" stops for her. Will go morning and night.

Our nine is still showing rain for all the days, some are suppose to be severe. I need daughter to send me the pic. of Ace on the top of buffet looking out the window at the squirrels & rabbits. His head barely miss the ceiling. Not sure how he get that high.

Cats are amazing. Cleo is my climber and jumper. Tabby is my "polite" cat. She just waits until you do what you have to do. Of course, Blu is too fat to do much except sleep. However I have noticed that Tabby has started licking Blu--a good sign!
