It reads: "The birds of the earth roamed in the mountains and near the sea. They saw forest animals in the mountains and fish in the sea. People hunted and fished. The end."

JAMP124 that cracked me up! Good translation! Also maybe, "The people liked to sit down." I know you did this a looong while ago but I just did it and appreciate the laugh!

Very difficult for someone whose vision is not good. It was all Greek to me. Oops, I see it is Egyptian.

Congrats Mamag bet you can't wait to get done. Very proud of you. My great neices just went back to school also. They are in Redding, California, where are you located? Can't believe they send these kids back to school before summer is even over and during the hottest year. Be safe.

Thank you all so much. I am very excited, nervous, and scared. Darambo, I have family in Redding also. I have never met them as I am in Virginia. My mom older sister moved out there years ago. She was like 90 something when she died and I do not remember any of my cousins.
How are the fires out there? I hope they get it under control soon. We graduate in December but the commencement ceremony will be held in May. I don't think I will be able to do the ceremonial walk again, not with my hubby's health the way it is.

Darambo, I thought Redding was on fire?
darambo
Aug 11, 2018
Abacii Redding is on fire. The Carr Fire has burned up several small communities, hundreds of houses and the worst 7 people confirmed dead and numerous missing. The 40 acres we own is probably burned up as one of the towns called Igo burned and our place is just down the road. Really bad fire, it is creating it's own weather and it is extremely hot. Be safe.

Mamag what do you plan on doing when you graduate? I would love to go back to school, but several things stand in my way. I am more settled now so I think I could do well and I have never lost the love of learning. All of my brothers and my sister, my neice, her hubby and their 3 girls live in Redding. My nephew and his family is there visiting right now. Wish I could have been able to go down to see them, but we are trying to take care of problems caused by my hubbies family. Fires are still going strong, although the one in southern California is bigger now at least it is headed away from people and structures. As dry as it is down there and here I doubt any of the fires will be under control any time soon. They will be working on hot spots for months even after they are under control. I send a prayer that you will be able to do the ceremonial walk, you deserve it and have earned it. Be safe.

Darambo, I plan on teaching elementary education in a private Christian school working with students who are Special needs or a teacher's assistant in a public school doing the same thing. Right now, I am focusing on taking care of my husband full time. So I am finishing school and then I am not sure. I have also been keeping an eye on the fires in California. S much devastation and loss of life. I hope they punish that guy to the max. There is no replacing the loss of life or items lost. It is so sad for everyone. God bless and have a wonderful week.

Mamag I was also a teachers assistant in the special ed. dept. at one of the public schools here, in an even smaller town than I live in. Before that I was a supervisor in the Civil Div. of Superior Court in California. I taught math, reading and writing. Also worked one on one with a very troubled 6th grade boy. Not sure how the fires started except the one in Redding. It started because a car broke down and I suspect it pulled over into some tall grass or weeds and the catalytic converter caught it on fire. I don't think I want to see the devastation as that is my second home. At least my family is ok and didn't lose anything. Our property only got partially burned, but it was just bare land, except for our travel trailer. Was right outside of the towns of Igo( which burned) and Ono. Haven't heard the fate of Ono yet, hopefully not touched. There is not much in either of these towns, mostly just houses and ranches.Feel so bad for all the loss of life and property. Hope you and your hubby are well and stay safe.

Hey darambo, I would love to start out as a teacher's assistant. I love being able to work in small groups or one-on-one. How are the fires? have they made any headway yet? I have not heard much lately. Stay safe my friend.

Mamag they have made fantastic headway on the Carr (Redding) Fire yesterday they reported 80% containment, but they will have a ways to go til it is fully out. I'm sure they will be putting out hot spots for months. The other really large fire still going strong unfortunately, can only pray no one gets hurt or loses their home. The news is more interested in reporting the political news than the fires or the volcano, or anything else for that matter. Not that what they have been reporting is not important, it's just that seems to be all they report. Would like to hear other news as well. Working with the small groups was great, one on one with the particular boy I was working with was extremely difficult as he had severe learning disabities. The teacher I worked with did not like me, I guess because the kids did. Myself and the other assistant did all the teaching, all the teacher did was some of the paperwork and coach the cheer leaders. She left when I did. Tried to get back into my profession, which is law but no luck. Now can't work because of back and leg. Guess I wrote enough for today. You also stay safe my friend and don't study too hard. ;-D

Darambo, What kind of law affects the teaching profession? Are you required to be a teacher? Or are you given preference before other candidates?
darambo
Aug 24, 2018
Abacii I changed professions from law to teaching. The teaching profession would fall under civil law, unless of course it is a criminal matter raises it's ugly head. No not required to be a teacher. I went to work for a very small school so I considered myself lucky to have gotten the job, very surprised it didn't go a local that they knew.Think I got the job because of my 15 years working in the legal business, and no locals had the right type of experience. I say locals because we had not lived here long enough for them to consider us locals. No I was not given preference, I think it was that I had experience supervising. Think I answered your questions if not, or you have anymore don't hesitate to ask and please be safe.

Darambo, My academic advisor said I should try to get my Masters so I can get licensure. I am not sure if I do want that, especially wanting to start work next year. And taking care of my husband is another issue I will be facing. I am not sure if I want to leave him alone all day. We have friends who can call on him but I do not want to rely on other people. I am sorry you had to lose your job. Every school I worked for always said they would be glad to have me back. So I will see what the Lord has in store for me. have a great day and be careful and stay safe also. Sending blessings.

Mamag I totally understand what you are saying about your husbands care When my son was 2 my husband fell off a ladder while at work, broke his neck. I worked full time at court, luckily Ed's grandmother was able to be there with Ed and our son while I was at work but then I had to take over during the rest of time. Was very hard and to make matters worse I had a miscarriage, but we got through it all, you just have to hang there and I know you can do it. Sending some prayers out for you. Be safe.

There's a lot of wisdom in the saying: one day at a time.
