Love reading all this stuff, but not up to thinking that hard! Time for a nap. New Years Eve tonight and will try to stay up! Dinner out, then friends house nearby and then home, probably before midnight!

The nice part of New Years Eve is you can go to bed whenever you want because it is bound to be after midnight somewhere in the world.

Love the puzzle. Perfect for Sunday. Nature motifs are always so pretty. I don't think anyone could afford to buy stained galss like this any more. Many of the new windows are pretty abstract and don't do much rendering or shading. There's a church near us which if beautiful except for 2 ugly windows of the Virgin who is very pregnant, has no facial features and is holding her belly. Can anyone suppose that an image like that inspires? I have a critical nature. It makes me unpleasant. Sorry. I'll find some upbeat quotes to make up for it.

I grew up Catholic which worships the Virgin Mary more than Jesus. But I never saw a stained glass window of a pregnant Mary holding her belly. I agree there is no inspiration there. Get away from that and just love Jesus for what He did for us. So simple.

I can understand why you might think Catholics worship Mary above Christ--and I guess there are people in any faith who place improper emphasis on certain holy people or objects, but the Catholic faith reveres but does not worship Mary. We believe all power comes from the Father through Christ. The rest are prophets and saints who also deserve admiration, remembrance and prayers but none stand equal to or above God being Father, Son and Spirit. My comment was really meant to criticize a lack of artistry and good taste. I don't usually go to that church anyway. My church has traditional windows depicting the Agony in the garden and the birth of Christ. And there's a beautiful, almost life sized crucifix at the door. Not to worry. No cult here.

Thank you for your comment. I could not have explained it better. A great deal of those who do not understand the religion do not take time to learn but are fast to condemn.

Catholicism is hard enough to understand from the inside. I can understand why folks who only have a surface knowledge can be confused.
We had once foster kids we took to church with us and they bugged out at the consecration thinking the blood was actually blood.

I understand the religion. I spent my childhood being catholic. I'm not condeming, just making an observation. That was how it was in the 60's.

Even in pre-Vatican II Catholicism Mary was never placed above Jesus. Maybe you and your family did think so, but Rosary societies and such are ancillary and not the heart of Catholicism which is the Eucharist, the Mass and the other sacraments--none of which promote Mary. They are all Christ centered. I am happy you have apparently found some other religion which does not confuse the issue in your mind, lilly. For myself I did not see it as an attack, just a misconception. Be at peace. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Looks as if it could be part of a William Morris work, which I love. If you don't know him then use google. I do love stained glass and often wish that some of the best Rose windows were not so high so that they could easily be seen.

Remember that you are stained glass with the beauty of God shining through, you can dim it but can never put it out. God's blessings on you all.

People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Each of us is carving a stone, erecting a column, or cutting a piece of stained glass in the construction of something much bigger than ourselves. Adrienne Clarkson

Countless people pray far more than they know. Often they have such a "stained-glass" image of prayer that they fail to recognize what they are experiencing as prayer and so condemn themselves for not praying.

Love the first quote in particular. This puzzle makes me want to get back to my stained glass work. I have my design and the glass to make a new glass on my back door.

It is funny that you should mention prayer in your last quote. We studied about praying today in our women's Sunday School class and how some prayers are so shallow or too much on themselves. Have a blessed day.

That's odd because I was just given a word from God after a special mass and the person said not to be afraid to ask God even for help with trifles like finding your car keys. I don't know if your group wanted something special from prayer like perhaps self knowledge or a deeper knowledge/love of God, but no prayer is bad prayer. Just open your heart and on't start worrying God won't like it. He loves you and whatever you want to say to Him--even if you want to yell at Him (which I've done)--will be fine. Just don't ignore Him.

Agree with you, globug. I liked that one best, too.
I hope you and Mamg have had a very special Sunday.
