Did it again as a mystery
it's been years since I've had a coconut
when I was little papa would get us one and black raisins with seed in them for Christmas
do any of you remember having that kind of raisins?

Hello Mr. Cocconut!

I remember a Warner Brothers' cartoon about a squirrel living in a park and there's a push cart loaded with nuts. I don't remember the order of nuts that the squirrel goes through - I think perhaps it starts out by looking at almonds, then when it's about to bite into an almond, it sees a bunch of peanuts - so then the squirrel goes for the peanuts. It's about to bite into a peanut when it sees a stack of larger nuts, then there are walnuts and then Brazil nuts, and finally, it sees a coconut.

The squirrel tries biting the coconut, too tough and too big. The squirrel rolls it off the cart onto the street, hoping that would open the coconut up. Nope. Then I think the squirrel pushes the coconut up to a tree limb and drops it onto the street. that cracks open the coconut and the two haves of the outer husk open and fall off - and the squirrel sees the coconut's shell, which looks like the outer husk without the fibers. The squirrel either faints or runs away and one of the 3 "holes" in the coconut winks at the camera.

That is one lonely looking coconut. Looks sad all by it's self....needs company! How about a nice tall ice tea with a straw and a colorful paper umbrella? :)))
May you all have a spectacular day. :)

Baskin Robbins used to make a pina colada Italian ice that was spectacular. Open that coconut and fill it with that and I'm there.

CatLadyOKC and elaineNH - I'd be more than happy to trade a little weather with you both. The Weather dudes say we are looking at 102 degrees for this afternoon. Same all week with 105 for Friday. It is always about 10 degrees warmer than here at about 30 miles away at the Colorado River.

You may not, the storm from the Gulf is suppose to come over us late tomorrow and overnite, could mean tornadoes & flooding. Possible for 5" more rain!!!

CatLadyOKC, and that weather that you're getting is coming my way (Ohio), we are going to be stuck all week in a pop up downpour system throughout the week. We actually need the rain but I can't stand being too long without sunshine.

Getting reall tired of this we have had many more days of rain than nice one since the first of May!
Our clay is saturated and this morning they said we could get up to 10" with this storm. Sure hope the neighbors above ground pool can hold it all. Really need the sun....getting grumpy (very) & also today is my birthday and now I'm another year older (more grumpy)! Think I'll start counting backward.

Happy belated Birthday, CatLady!!!! Don't start counting backwards- and don't be grumpy! Birthdays are a blessing! Mine is Tuesday and I'll be 61. I missed yours yesterday because I've been staying in Nashville with the 2 children I nanny for while their parents were on vacation. I'm home again to sleep in my own bed tonight and very happy to see my 3 grandchildren- 2 of whom I have been raising for almost 20 years! The other lives right around the corner and spends her days here with her cousin while her parents work. I think all the kids in my life have kept me young- I can't afford to get old (or even sick! ) with so many kids counting on me! Hope you had a wonderful day despite the awful weather and that you can celebrate properly soon!

Yes, start counting backwards! You'll feel better. :)
Again, Happy Birthday. If we were close by I'd bake you a cake. I turned on the oven for 3 loves of Applesauce/raisin/walnut bread and then made a Strawberry cream cake. Had a lot of strawberries I needed to use up and of course the applesauce needed to be used up too. Strawberry Cream Cake w/candles on top, or maybe just one candle? And a nice cup o'joe. :)
Well have a great day. :))

Happy Birthday Catlady and Lydia. Catlady I think Jack Benny had the right idea. He got stuck on his favorite birthday 39. Pick your favorite and keep celebrating that.
Lydia you are very lucky to have the health and energy for all those grandkids. They are a wonderful gift is you are up to it.

Hi Tomandray:
Picked enough cherries from my tree to make pie. Haven't tasted it yet but not worth all the work of pitting the cherries! My husband says he doesn't want any. I bet he has at least one piece, tho.

Hi there Pixipixil!!!
Love homemade cherry pie! :))) Used to make my own pie back in CT. We had fruit trees in the back yard. Peaches, apples, cherries, pears, 3 types of plums, apricot, plus all the berries, gooseberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, currents, grapes and I can't forget the rhubarb. My dad loved rhubarb and strawberry pie with lots of whipped cream. It was all a lot of work, but so worth it. Really miss the tart cherries and the pies. Pitting is not so much work, it's the staining of my shirts that bugged me. That was before Shout came out. I had to wear a "special shirt" that was already stained to work on fruit. :))
Have a great day and keep cool. :)
