I love this puzzle. It looks very much like the wild fruit we call "poha" here in Honolulu. Love the color!

Great puzzle!! Today is rainy, gray and quiet in the mountains here in Southwest Virginia. The colorful Autumn leaves on the trees keeps the day looking colorful!!

I know what you mean. I also live in Southwest Virginia in the Roanoke Valley area. We were getting some sunshine later this afternoon. Hubby and I are planning a trip up the Skyline Drive and back down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I hope it nice next week-end for our trip. We are also planning on a pick nick on the way back down.

Hi mamag15! I hope you and your hubby had a great trip to Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway....beautiful scenery to enjoy! Norton, VA has been rainy & windy this week, but warm! Don't forget to set your clock back this weekend!

Moneta, VA has also been rainy the last few days. Thanks for the reminder also. We have not gone on our trip but hope to this week-end. We are using a rental car as we were in an accident taking me to work. It was dark and rainy Wednesday and my husband missed the entrance going up the school road and he hit the curb at the bottom of the hill. Our car is a 2014 Ford Fusion and s very low in the front. The whole front-end of our car needs to be replaced. Almost $6, 000 in damages. Thank God the insurance is paying for most of it. We have a $1, 000 deductible and that comes out of our pocket. The other problem is that the rental place we got the car is charging us $15.00 a day for it. I do not like Enterprise. They took out money from our checking account without any notification. t was only $30.00 but it put us n the red as we only had $14.00. Hubby had to take money from my credit card to put back in the bank. This has been such a horrible last few days. The only good thing is that neither one of got hurt except for my neck a little from the seat belt.
We need prayers for our finances and for me to get back on track with God. We really do need a day out to get away from everything.

Yes KNadineM, if you eat them before they are ripe then it will put you off with the bitterness, when ripe the taste it great (I think so) and are very nice with vanilla ice cream. Do not eat the orange lantern the berry is inside.
I wonder does anyone know the proper name for them, it has slipped my memory and ii's annoying me that I cannot think of it.
God Bless and big hugs from me to all.

Do y'all know that we have, as far as I know, seven British folks on C4J? I think that's neat.

In N.Z. the Chinese Gooseberry are now called Kiwi-fruit. These look like the Cape Gooseberry, with little fruit inside them. Kiwi-fruit do not grow inside a shell like this.

If these are the things I am thinking of they used to be called Chinese gooseberries and there was a very tasty green berry inside of each one. Yum.

"t is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness." Charles Spurgeon

"Try to make at least one person happy every day. If you cannot do a kind deed, speak a kind word. If you cannot speak a kind word, think a kind thought. Count up, if you can, the treasure of happiness that you would dispense in a week, in a year, in a lifetime! " Lawrence G. Lovasik

There is a herbalist on a garden show here and her closing line is "find happiness in every moment"..Wise lady.

God bless all of you. Hugs.

Some similar species that are edible are called ground cherries. I don't know if this particular species also has edible centers like those. By us these are called Chinese lanterns and they are used in floral displays.
