Now that puzzle scene is where I could live & relax. Now I'm going to find my map (yes, I always loved maps) & see where Piedmont, Italy is located--my girlfriend is going to Amalfi Coast sometime soon.

With you all the way. I love maps, too. Will look this up as well. I've never seen Italy or any of the world except the US, Canada and Birmingham England roller rink with a short 2 hours at Avon on a Sunday when everything was closed. We did stick our nose into Mexico for a half hour--yes literally.
With the world situation as it is we won't be seeing the rest of the world any time soon.

Italy is wonderful, and if you have any spare pennies I would recommend it to anyone. I am still trying to figure out what you were doing visiting the UK to just go to a roller rink in Birmingham:-)

I've been to Italy twice and loved both times! The food is all homemade. Our neighbor took her daughter over there. Their half Slicilian and the daughter told hubby and I "After going over to Italy, I'll never eat at an italian american restaurant ever again.

I've visited England twice. I can even recall the two hotels that we stayed at. We took a day trip to a village in Wiltshire - Mahlmesbury. We ate at a pub named "A Cat in a Custard Pot'. We thought that name was amusing. We ate at an indian restaurant in Chelsea - London. We ate at another restaurant that we recommended to us. I even think of the travel company we used. They were wonderful - booked, the airline tickets, hotel, restaurant reservations and the tickets for the attractions. Can recall that travel company as well.

I'm glad you had a good time, carol. My week there was awful. We were stuck at a roller rink from 7:30 am until 11pm and the food they had gave me diarrhea. I stopped eating except the one meal they took us to get at night at a restaurant. Many of the other skaters had some family with them who could leave and get food for them. I was alone and lost ten pounds. I weighed 98 lbs when I got home.
Sis--you asked what I was doing there. It was a figure skating competition--world championship--that I had won my way to. I didn't win when there, tho. It's a long story.

Omg Pixi - I always wanted to be a figure skater. I used to watch Dorothy Hamil and try and do those moves. Hubby and I were traveling from Ca to Fl and we stopped in El Paso. He drank the water which gave him the same stomach issue. We were checking out and the congierges desk says oh you didn't drink the faucet water. He already drank it and we had to stop and get him some meds.

Believe it or not I invented the "Hamil camel." I was doing it for years on roller skates and at the time had been hanging around with an ice skater and trying to transfer my items (that's what we call them) to ice. My friend came over and asked me to do my spins because the pro there wanted to see them but he didn't know which one I did that the pro wanted so I did them all. Next thing you know there's the Olympic champ on ice claiming my spin is her invention when I invented it years before.

I feel honored to speak to someone who sticks to what they want--and then achieves their goal! You'll just have to invent something more exciting. I will be cheering for you!

Oh wow Pixi - good for you! I used to try and do those moves like the camel. I've only met actors and tv news anchors in person.

I can't say I met Dick Buttons. I can only say I watched him and his media group interview the other girl and treat the rest of us as if we were invisible.

Looks like s great place to read and drink a cup of coffee or tea in the morning before the sun rises too high in the sky. Looks like a pool lies on he other side of the wall. Nice opportunity for a swim when the sun has warmed the water.

That is beautiful in every way. You can see why so many great artists came from Italy.
We have been having rainy, nasty weather all week. I could use a pretty day like this.
Wishing you all a special view you can enjoy.

I don't know when some of mine came. The Irish side came because of the potato famine. The others come from Germany and were pre WWII. One was a lamplighter who got mugged when he got here and ended up operating an elevator in a department store. The rest I know nothing about--there would be several as they were a few generations ago. My aunt and uncle both tried to find out when they went to Europe for vacations but both were told it would be impossible to find anything out as the names were too common.
