My father died 9 years ago this past May. At his burial a butterfly kept flying around my mom. It stayed right around her face the whole time. When we left it followed us. When we got home and my mom got out of the car there was that butterfly flying around her. Every time she goes outside one flies around her and we say its my dad letting her know he's still around her. It's just so amazing! :-)

Whenever I see a blue and black butterfly it tells me that my son is with me. He always said when he died he would come back as a butterfly because I love them so much. It was really weird that the week he passed away, there was a butterfly right outside his bedroom window. t would not move until I took its picture. It actually stayed in the same spot until I got my camera and snapped its picture. He will be gone 7 years come Sept. He is my forever 21 year old.
Any butterfly I see I think of all those parents who have also lost children. It is our way of reconnecting with each other.

When a butterfly lands on you, mamag15, you are being blessed. It could even be a blessing from your son.

The butterfly is a sign of healing and peace.

Thanks aknon. I do feel peace and blessings when I see a butterfly. I know Jake and his best friend Corey are okay as he too committed suicide in December.

I am dealing with depression but I know God is in control. Jake's little girl turns 7 next Friday and we have not seen her in three years. Emma was 3 months when her daddy died and now her mother took our rights away for no reason. I keep praying this will not last long. I miss that little girl as much as I miss my son. Please keep praying that her mother will come around soon.

Whenever a friend is experiencing an existential crisis I use the butterfly which has struggled mightily to emerge from its cocoon as an example of the time of life change and the need to be strong and keep fighting just as the butterfly did in order to be reborn into beauty.

That is a very moving example adolmakr.

I do love butterflies. In fact my maiden name is translated to butterflies. They are so delicate it is hard to catch one to admire or even build a collection into a journal.

I used to have an extensive colection which I foolishly brought to school to show a teacher and he threw it in a pile with all the flea market stuff he was collecting and it was destroyed. It represented many years of collecting.

I was luckier, pixi - mine went to the university when I graduated from high school. They'd been asking for my collection since I was in my early teens.

Wow. That's wonderful. I didn't have mine mounted in cases. Most were in envelopes that were all in a big box.
How did they know about your collection, Aknan?

I was in 4-H for many years and wanted to be an entomologist. The collection grew and what I displayed every year at the Tri-County fair changed to show my new "bugs" - there were more than butterflies in it. A professor at the college was one of the judges for several years and he asked me for it at the last fair in 1968.

I had dragon flies and moths in mine, too. I had caught all the different kinds around me twice over and had to start on something else. Dragon flies come in gorgeous colors.

I agree Corrina52 butterflies are beautiful and delicate. To build a collection of them into a journal would mean killing them right? That would be not so nice. Now would it?
