Does any one remember the Art Linkletter Show? He used to have a quiz where he showed something in silhouette and the contestnt had to guess what it was. Doing this puzzle remided me of that. When the puzzle is in pieces sometimes it's hard to decide what those pieces add up to.
Hoping all things you need to know add up today.

Pixi I remember that show! Didn't think anyone else did. Do you remember " Queen For a Day "? For some reason when I answered your question that popped into my head. You have a wonderful day and as always be safe.

I remember both those shows! I especially liked the segment on Art Linkletter's show, "Kids Say the Darndest Things"! That was hysterical. Good memories. I remember wishing my mom could be the "Queen for a Day" on the show.

Nborchardt that was the best part of of the Linkletter show, it was hysterical to me even though I was just a kid myself. One thing that stands out is Art Linkletter was one of the first celebrities to make anti drug statements, then his daughter under the influence of LSD jumped out of a window and fell to her death. Guess he knew what he was talking about, thought that was so sad. Seemed to be the beginning of the downward spiral of drugs. Be safe all.

Remember "Kids Say the Darndest Things" and "Queen for a Day". Wish we could get some of these shows back instead of what are on some networks now.

I remember both of those shows and I loved "Kids say the darndest things." I also remember "The Millionare" where the character John Bearsford Tipton gave away money. And "The FBI"..."Just the facts ma'am."

That's because those shows were for entertainment, the reality shows of today are there to shock more than anything else. Hugs to all.

Hugs to you too, Aussie. We don't watch those shows. They are sooo phony. And apparently dangerous to the contestants.

I don't watch reality shows think they are a waste of time. Unfortunately I guess most people do enjoy and watch them and that's why they are on. If I could only watch reality shows, I would be reading instead of wasting my time. Be safe all.

I remember Queen for a Day. Isn't that the one where someone has had a rough time and they parade their sad life story out then give them prizes and money to help them out? My mother always made me turn it off. She didn't believe the stories were genuine I think.

Trynfindit I remember The Millionaire it was a really good show. I always wished someone like that would knock on our door. You be safe

I remember the Millionaire. That was a good show. You'd need to give away more than a million to make a significant difference in a person's life today.
Someone mentioned the FBI. Is that Sergeant Friday (Jack Web)?
I used to like The Naked City. There are seven million stories in the naked city...(I forget the rest of the lead in.)

Jun 18, 2019
Found it. I guess it was the tag line ending the show:
There are eight million stories in the naked city and this has been one of them.

The only channel I really like to watch is HGTV. Also sometimes turn to others, but really just watch news. Trump is in Orlando today so many roads are closed. The convention center can take 20, 000 people and 100, 000 signed up. Plus the have the "anti-trumpers" here also. so should be interesting! Will watch news tonight.

Pixi, Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb ) was on Dragnet. Really enjoyed The Naked City, in fact I have the series on cd. Elijah I try not to watch the news because of politics. Don't agree with any of them they all need grow up and stop the name calling and do what's right for this country(USA) Be safe and take care.

Do any of y'all remember a children's program called "Tom Terrific and his faithful dog Mighty Manfred"?
elijah13
Jun 20, 2019
Don't remember that. However, we didn't have any TV to watch. The first thing was the Queen's inauguration in 1952 I think..My grandparents live upstairs in our house and they had a TV. We didn't. Nobody where I babysat had a TV either. We did a lot of reading after the kids were put to bed.
trynfindit

"Tom Terrific" would've been around 1955ish. You could send off for a clear vinyl-type sheet that you could adhere to the tv screen (because of the static electricity) and do things on the Tom Terrific program like connect the dots, etc.

My brother used to watch that, trynfindit. I think he even had the theme song on record:
I'm Tom Terrific the greatest hero ever.
Terrific is the name for me because I'm so clever.
I can be what I want to be and if you'd like to see
Come and follow me:
I can be a plane on high; a diesel train that's roaring by; a bumblebee or a tree--that's me!
I got pretty tired of hearing that record. Can you tell?
Another kid show he watched was Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Bullwinkle.
My childhood went back further to The Magic Cottage; Paul Tripp's Mr. I Imagination; and the many serials on channel 5--Tim Tyler; Bulldog Drummond and my favorite Flash Gordon.

Thanks Darambo. I knew that but forgot.
I agree completely about the politicians. I think limiting the number of terms for senators and reps might help. Also a law against pork barrel additions to bills. I thought there was one but apparently not. Why any bill proposal should go on for a thousand pages I cannot understand. I'm sick of the crusade against Trump. If Congress stops playing the vendetta game and starts cooperating with our Presidents we might once more have a viable government. This is a "let's stop the other guy from succeeding" system at present.
trynfindit
Jun 21, 2019
Pixi, there have been bills introduced to eliminate pork barrel projects but, since 99.99% of them do it, it's never passed. The Congress persons would have to be the ones to limit their terms so you know how that always turns out.

I so agree with everything. Seems Trump can NEVER do anything right. He has put some very good things in place for us. Nobody ever agrees with everything. We are at least going in the right direction! God bless.

I must be older than you folks. Tom Terrific was during my brother's childhood (7 years my junior.) He had an LP all about him. I'm Tom Terrific the greatest hero ever. Terrific is the name for me because I'm so clever, I can be what I want to be and if you'd like to see (--couldn't catch this 2 syllable word) adn follow me. I can keep going but you get the idea.

This puzzle reminds me how attractive men wearing toolbelts were to me in my younger days. Especially after I purchased a house. It is surprising how many men are pathetically unable or unwilling to learn the fundamentals of routine home repair.

Not too easy to do but not the hardest one I have done.

"The true art of memory is the art of attention." Samuel Johnson

What would I like to be? a "sybarite" --the definition is "a person devoted to luxury". However that I am not!
