Love this vegetable steamed or raw and thinly cut in salads. It is easy to steam with carrot medallions and or cauliflower when placed in the bucket that fits into our rice cooker. This also flavors the rice below the vegetables. The stems can be quartered lengthwise and sliced into small pieces to steam for an easy and tasty addition to canned or frozen cream of chicken soup. Cooked chicken can add to the lusciousness of the dish.

Rich in minerals, but hard to digest for some folks. A cruciferous vegetable, like mustard, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, radish, turnip, Bok choy, water and garden cress, arugula, and a host of similar vegetables among the international cuisine.

Never tried it raw, but it certainly is good cooked.

"It is possible to experience an awakening in this life through realizing just how precious each moment, each mental process, and each breath truly is." ~ Christy Turlington
We're so often stuck in our regrets from the past or our fears for the future, or even past achievement and future dreams. But life is here and now. As Thomas S. Monson said, "The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it."

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

In my opinion, eating broccoli raw tastes like chewing on a bush. Bleh. But cooked is good, especially smothered in cheese sauce!

Our preacher absolutely despises broccoli. That fact has lead to more pranks and funny stories than I can remember. The subject even sneaks into sermons quite often!

Hahaha that made me laugh Joyce. I actually cut the stalk in rounds, as well as the other part that is edible and cook them for a short time in the microwave. Makes them delicious, without the cheese sauce. Hugs.
