Pretty flower. I needed something pretty today. It's starting yo look like the beginnings of another bad year. Last month the daughter of my youngest sister, age 46, died of liver cancer. Yesterday morning I got word that one of my cousins was losing his kidney functions and they aren't giving him much longer to live. Yesterday afternoon I found out that my oldest sister's daughter, also 46, was told to see her oncologist. She has lost 17 lbs. in 2 weeks. As of last October she had been cancer free for 7 years after battling cervical cancer that metastasized throughout her body. I ask you to please pray for my family for strength and comfort. For God's will and pain relief for my cousin, and a complete and fast healing for me niece. Actually, though that is my will, pleaase pray for God's will for my niece, also.

Thank you and God bless you all.

I hope everything turns out ok for you, your niece, and your cousin. Any chance for a transplant or dialysis?

Not a likely candidate. He is 70 years old and partially paralysed from a stroke years ago, as well as many other health problems. Probably a blessing for him to be out of pain. Even so, I have so many good memories from younger years. It is just painful to lose someone you love. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Oh nlb, of course, you have all my prayers! Such a heavy burden to place on one of God's dear children. You have accepted this situation so gracefully and I send you all my strength & pls get your DNA checked. Love & God's Sun on you!

Baygrannie, why, exactly do you think I should be getting my DNA checked? What do you think could be found that would be helpful? By the way, my cousin is not related by blood - step son to my father's brother. And the niece that just died is not related by blood - my sister's step daughter. Even so, they are family in my heart.

Dear nlb, I'm happy to hear they are not blood relations. Since my pharmacy days, I keep in touch w/science papers. A lot of DNA genes keep passing down thru generations. I even know a MD who had 3 of his daughters get a total masectomy because of past female cancers.

Unfortunately, there is a history of cancer and heart disease on both sides of my family and I am fully aware of being a good candidate to follow in their footsteps. My philosophy is I'm goingto live until I die no matter what I do so just do the best I can and enjoy life, don't be afraid of what may or may not kill me. Thanks for your concern and God bless you.

Yes, nlb, that is exactly my philosophy. Interestingly, I am participating in a Harvard/Mass General med study because it seems that back at least 4 generations, we are lucky enuf to have had no cancer at all. They are studying my DNA & testing to see if certain meds help or hinder this status. Now as for heart & high blood pressure--forget about it. We are all ticking away. I agree with your philosophy about live & let live--let's hope we CAN do our best-and LIVE our best! Please accept my prayers for you--now here is another question--how come it seems that the nicest people have the biggest problems and the most angry people (all around the world) seem to have no worries about their health at all? Where are all the 21st century philosophers? With many blessings & thanks for reminding us to live our best.

Interesting. I am taking part in a heart health study with the university of San Fransico just because I am a patient of theirs in another department. Happy to help where I can. My father had benign tumors in his brain that kept growing for years and had four surgeries to remove them so donated his body to UCSF when he died. I now have a benign tumor behind me inner ear, near the brain stem. It has not grown in the three years since its discovery and may never need to have anything done to it. That is certainly my prayer! So many heredity things. Thank you Adam and Eve. And thank you Jesus! I am enjoying my life, for the most part, and plan to keep on doing so. God bless you, BayGranny.

No thank you Cain & Abel. Could our genectics go that far back? Thanks for giving me something to ponder...Two rule breakers--kinda makes me feel hopeless but we'll SURVIVE--hear us roar!!! Hope someone smart can map these genes & could win a Pulitzer Prize & humanity at the same time. Many blessings & keep that neurologist busy.

Thank you. Since then my brother-in-law, the one whose daughter just died, had a mild heart attack. Did not require a hospital stay but will need tests done by his cardiologist as soon as it can be arranged.

I think it's just opening up, olamae. My goldahlias (no, that's not a typo) look similar as they open.

I hope so! I love flowers. I will see if I can find an image of goldahlias. Though I am partial to the Ola part of gladiolas for some reason! LOL! Hugs and Blessings :)
