The only time I saw a blue rose was in a movie with Tab Hunter I think in the 60's. (could have been Steve Reeves) an Arabian Tale like picture. Even if these are artificial I would like at least 1/2 dozen with Baby's Breath and greens in my vase!

Is there a real blue rose?
Roses do not naturally occur in blue because they lack the anthocyanidin pigment delphinidin, which is the cause of blue colors in flowers. No amount of breeding or hybridization of roses can result in a true blue rose. It's not a matter of uncovering a recessive gene. There is no gene for blue.

In the UK there is a popular rose called "Blue Moon". It is a very delicate shade of creamy blue. However you couldn't call it true blue!

I really LOVED those ROSES!!!!!! The 192 DIAMONDS took me some time since I haven't done that many nor that style(DIAMONDS) for a long time. But I stayed under 1 hr. and 30 minutes.

So few flowers are truly blue. I love the ones that are like hydrangeas, morning glories and forget me nots. There are a few others like pimpernel in the blue form, chicory (which as a plant is ugly) and gentian which I have never seen except in photos. I thin fiesty is right about the roses being dyed. I get lots of catalogues and never saw a rose that color in any including Jackson & Perkins.
Wishing you friends that are true blue.

I used to drink a liquid coffee with chicory in it and it was delicious. The coffee got a bit expensive, so do not drink it any more.

Aussie, I've enjoyed chicory coffee since 1974. I buy mine by the case from a Cajun grocer. The coffee isn't expensive, but shipping it to AK is!

These are probably plastic roses. but they sure are beautiful. I love roses. They were my bridal bouquet and when my husband passed away I put the same kind of red roses on his casket. He's been gone several years now but I love him just as much as the day I married him.

Awww that's sweet Jingles - have one aunt who I don't think she's going to last much longer. Her diet consists of scotch lots, cigs and pot pie. Now I hear from my uncle that she isn't happy. Then was told that she blamed a hospital for her husband dying. Both her and her husband don't eat healthy, are overweight and have horrible bad habits!

That is a very unusual rose. I've never seen a blue rose before. It's pretty.
