Baobabs reach heights of 5 to 30 m (16 to 98 ft) and have trunk diameters of 7 to 11 m (23 to 36 ft). The Glencoe baobab, a specimen of A. digitata in Limpopo Province, South Africa, was considered to be the largest living individual, with a maximum circumference of 47 m (154 ft) and a diameter of about 15.9 m (52 ft). The tree has since split into two parts, so the widest individual trunk may now be that of the Sunland baobab, or Platland tree, also in South Africa. The diameter of this tree at ground level is 9.3 m (31 ft) and its circumference at breast height is 34 m (112 ft).

I thought this tree was in Africa by the photo. Haven't been to South Africa but have been to East Africa and the Middle East.

They both were interesting countries. A country in the Middle East a side street was fillthy dirty. We ate foods that we pigeon and was told it was chicken. In East Africa my sister and I ate a stew. She was sick one night and I the next. The next am we were driving to a camp in the bush. I was really young. On this ride to the camp I was still sick. My parents asked the driver to stop at a store to get me some medicine. Then they all went on a safari run to see the wild animals. I had to rest and then heard that they saw a leopard. I wanted to see it and was really bummed....lol

The concept of cleanliness in food preparation is certainly not important in many Middle Eastern, African, and Asian countries as it is in Western countries. It seems that the populations of the former regions must develop a tolerance for food prepared in dirtier conditions during their youth. As far as the chicken/pigeon situation goes, I think we have a similar situation in Chinese restaurants in the US. The pieces of meat on a stick that are served on almost every buffet are definitely not any commonly served meat that I have ever tasted. I believe it is dog, and that they are raised as meat by the suppliers. This is commonly served in Asian countries...

Looks a little strange, seems to be too much trunk and not enough leaves.

"Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations." Unknown

"When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back." ~ Paulo Coelho

Take care dear friends and God bless. Hugs.

Have seen these in Hawaii on Oahu. One was so big you could actually live in it! They plaque said it covered 900 square feet in the trunk footprint.

Thanks for the quote. We have a tree here where the trunk is all twisted. The photo of the tree above now I'm imagining a leopard or a cheetah lying in it.
