Maybe called a bank barn because it is sorta on a piece of land that could be called "a bank". Looks like we are about to get our afternoon thunderstorm or at least some rain. That's summertime here!

I love big old barns. So many are falling apart. Too expensive to save.

Good morning puzzlers hope everyone has a wonderful day. Never heard of a bank barn before. My son is working for a guy that deals in barn wood, tearing down old barns and making furniture. I had no idea it was so popular. They are so busy my son is looking forward to his college classes starting this fall. Be safe out there.

Me too. It's surprising how different each barn can be.

Many people are buying the old barn wood to use in their new homes they are building, Some of the wood being used is beautiful and good it isn't being wasted.

Our living room is "paneled" with old barn board. It was built in the 50's.

Darambo, a "bank barn" is a barn that's built partially on a (dirt) bank or hill.

Oh. I thought it was one with a defaulted mortgage.
Glad it's a different kind of dirty deal.

It looks vine to me. It could use a few repairs though. Some of the boards are loose. But if this is a bank barn, then it's the owner's vault that it needs some repairs.

Colonoscopy hurt? I was sedated for my procedure. The drug that is used is so fast acting that you don't know you've fallen asleep. Then you awake and you don't realize you've been asleep. The drug that's used doesn't make you sick. I did hear about a home test.

I'm due for a colonoscopy but I'm backing out. On my last one the doctor had to stop. He said I had a tortuous bowel and subsequent visits said it was caused by adhesions. Those only keep getting worse but this new doctor (my former one died of cancer) wants to do a colonoscopy again anyway and the practitioner said the bowel unknots itself. I just don't feel confident and since none of my former tests showed abnormalities and it doesn't run on either side of my family I think getting the test is more risky than not so I'm calling to cancel today. I feel guilty about waiting but It's almost a week away. I guess they'll be mad. I just have this dread about it.
Wishing you a day of good decisions. (I hope mine is.)

I completely understand pixipixel. You have to do what you think is best for YOU! I've been through several, and unfortunately, will need to continue to have them.

Hi pixipixil. I don't blame you. I did the same thing. I think they are very risky. I take the at home test. They say not full proof, but, good enough for me. My friend spent a month in the hospital after she had hers due to complications. I always have gone with what my "gut" tells me to do. Have a great day.

The last one I had the told me I had a partial obstruction from a perforation healing. They said I was lucky that hadn't had repercussions. So they operated to open the obstruction. No problem, I was up and about the next day. Then I got sepsis and peritonitis from a small hole where they sewed it back together and almost died from that. 11 days in ICU, 18 days in hospital and 3 weeks in PT rehab,. Ironically, the colo/rectal surgeon who did the repair used the results of the follow up CT scan and not the colonoscopy to determine how to proceed. If anyone mentioned colonoscopy to me again, I would run but that is just a personal thing. I've had two and that will be it for me. They can warm up the old CT machine instead. Of course, I had some other not so fun tests before that surgery. I ended up with an ileostomy but that was reversed 4 months later. Really, the colonoscopy wasn't the issue but it started the whole process.

Please don't worry about having to cancel you have given the hospital enough time to slot someone else in.Take care and try not to worry too much.

My doctors have been trying to get me to have one for the last two years. I'm just chicken! I have too many other things wrong with me to worry about one more. The last one I had hurt and was embarrassing, so I'm not in any hurry to repeat it. Don't feel guilty about canceling your appointment - it just opens up the schedule for someone else!

Thank you everyone. Slippers I was worried I had waited too long and caused a problem but you are right. When I called they didn't get angry at all. Aussie I had two and the third was when the doctor stopped because my bowel was too deformed for him to get the scope thru. My husband has to go every 3 years because colon cancer runs in his family. He even stays awake for it and has no problem. I was awake the first time and the pain when the doctor started removing the scope was so intense I had them put me completely out for the other 2. Everybody's gut is different. Thankfully whatever the shape of oour gut we can, as you advise, rest in HIm. Thanks, Aussie. Ghoulsnite--I am actually glad for your experience. It shows I am not being entirely cuckoo for being too nervous to go thru the procedure. Things do happen. I am, however, sorry it happened to you. I can't figure why they didn't just schedule a CT for me in the first place this time round.
Hockeyfan--what at home test do you take?
KJD sorry you are stuck having to have them. The prep sure is nasty. Thanks for the vote of confidence. You have all made me feel much better about it.

I agree with slippers. A week is plenty of time to cancel. Even a day if you feel strongly about not having it. It is your body after all. And I'm sure someone is happy they got kicked ahead or were able to get an appointment so soon.

Pixipixil.......the dr. gives me a packet that you use for three days and it tells you exactly what to do and when you finish with your samples you mail it postpaid and they send your dr. the results. I do it every other year and my results come back normal and it's so easy. When you ask your dr. about it they will fuss and say you need the oscopy but you can demand it and they have to give it to you. All my friends use it and my mother did as well. Good luck.

Medicine is not about getting you well it is about getting all the $ they can from you. The less the better.
